It was apparent from observing his surgical technique and the quality work of his staff that his surgery is state of the art. He took ample time to carefully remove the donor strip and close the donor area using the trichophytic closure technique. When appropriate he uses internal sutures to minimize the tension on the external skin layer sutures. This can potentially minimize visible scaring in the donor area. On the day of my visit, he only performed a single layer donor closure since the patient had good laxity in his donor area and the strip removed was only 1 cm wide. The patient had good density and his 23 cm by 1 cm wide strip yielded 2,523 grafts consisting of 375 ones, 1,878 twos and 270 threes. I found the grafts to be exceptional and beautifully trimmed. Dr. Ross uses very small needles such as a 21 gauge to create minimally invasive incisions that are as small as 0.7mm. This enables him to densely pack grafts close together to achieve high density in one session when appropriate for the patient. In general I was impressed by the surgery, the staff and the clinic overall and enjoyed Dr. Ross and his entire staff. I look forward to seeing many examples of Dr. Ross's patient results on this forum in the future. |

Pat,
I'm glad to hear that your visitation with Dr. Ross went well. It's been a pleasure getting to speak with many members of his staff and learning more about his clinc. But visual proof of an in-person visitation is invaluable and provides insight that photos alone can't. Thanks for being so diligent and thorough in your visitations and evaluations. Dr. Ross' leading nurse Gerri who is posting as "LUV2PLUG" has already posted a few before/after patient albums in the "hair transplant patient photo albums". I look forward to seing more of their work in the near future. Best wishes, Falc To learn about how I restored my hair, read my hair restoration story with pictures. See also my hair loss website. After years of considering hair transplant surgery I made the plunge. It seems now that given the economy how it is, quality doctors in the states can be found for prices similar to and in many cases lower to those found in countries like Brazil and elsewhere.
I live in Tampa FL and while it is home to a Gold Follicle Award hair restoration Doctor his rates were still quite “pre-recession” . After interviewing several facilities across the country I settled on Ross Medical Hair Restoration in beautiful La Jolla Ca. (BTW If a facility is trying to tempt you with beaches and sun don’t fall for it since after your surgery you will want to avoid pools, swimming and sunlight. However the temperate climate of La Jolla is certainly ideal. ) Without sounding like a paid advertisement their staff was nothing short of very professional and caring. I flew in on a Wednesday after having arranged the surgery dates and travel arrangements through Nicole via email. I had a brief consultation with their staff and Dr. Ross that afternoon and returned the next morning at 6 AM sharp for the start of the procedure which lasted till shortly after 8 pm that night. I was the only patient treated that day and the staff went out of their way to make me comfortable and keep me in great spirits. Friday I rested at the hotel most of the day and by the afternoon I ventured out and toured some shopping areas and caught a movie at the Cineplex. I returned home the next day Saturday. I could have flown home Friday but wanted to stay local in case I had any issues that I wanted seen by Dr. Ross or his staff before flying home. As it turned out I had none but it was good knowing I could just kick back and relax a full day. I should mention that I did have much difficulty finding skilled help while in Tampa to remove the stitches from the donor area. My general doctor did not feel comfortable removing them and he referred me to a cosmetic surgeon’s office whose staff assured me they could remove them. Well the one person assigned by the Doctor on duty was nothing short of a beast and kept missing cut points and trying to pull the stitching through forcefully and had me in tears and bleeding profusely. This was in Town and Country Tampa and if you know of a cosmetic surgeon in that area BEWARE! The warning is simple make sure you know of a reputable place competent with removing hair transplant donor area stitching. Either that or stick around La Jolla or wherever you go for the stitch removal on the 7th day following surgery. Feel free to contact me if you wish further details about my adventure. Dr. Ross thanks for your great work, awesome sense of humor and please pass on my many thanks to your amazing staff. |
