Just a bit on my experience with Dr. path…

I arrived in Bangkok the night before my HT. I had my consultation at Bumrungrad hospital with Dr. Path and his team the following afternoon. He told me I was a good canadate and we decide on a hair line, Dr. Path said 2000 grafts densely packed would give me excellent results and ensured me I would be very happy… I was very impressed with Dr. P, his team and the hospital itself.

The following morning we meet back at the hospital for my procedure. We discussed the hairline again I was given Valium and was taken into the operating room. I was given the needles for freezing all the time being massaged which helped to take my mind off the needles, it wasn’t that bad at all. Throw the entire surgery Dr.P and his team ensured I was comfortable while they did their work.
After surgery they went over my after care instructions and set up an appointment for a wash the next day. I put on my hat and walked the two blocks to my hotel…easier then going to the dentist!
The next day I had my wash meet the guy who had his procedure done after mine, I believe Dr.P does two a day.
I spent just under a week in Bangkok before getting the few non-absorbable stitches out. And left with my hat on to travel around for the next month before Flying back to Vancouver.
All and all my experience was good as you can see by reading my past posts I have and still have concerns its all part of it I guess.
At 5 months my scars still very pink, but I do believe when the pink goes it will be difficult to find. As for my recipient area I have yet to see much action only time will tell!

I think the work looks fine, your scar still shows through since your hair is lighter in color and is shorter. With time that will improve, in a few months you will be thrilled.

It looks like a nice clean transplant. Regarding density, it's difficult to say. I think you'll be happy with the results...it will definitely be a big improvement over what you have now, but it will generally be thinner hair, and some lights will be a friend to you, and others, your worst enemy. Somewhere inbetween is reality .

Looks like clean work and seems to be healing well. You may want to do a search for a poster called "Gorpy".........he had 2700 grafts in roughly the same area and I belive has around 30 grafts per sq. cm. density which is where you probably are.

You're still ultra early in the game and still have a few months to go before you'll likely see much activity.

Thanks for your feedback...It differently helps.My doctor was Dr. Pathomvanich in Bangkok. It seems that non-coalition members and S.E Asia seem to be a bit controversial on this site...but for the most part I have been pretty happy with it. Not overly keen about my appearance at the moment but I know its all part of it...

I would agree with the other posters about how clean the work is and believe that your doctor did a great job of the hairline. I am a little curious about the scar and question how well it will be concealed but I agree with NoBuzz that your lighter hair is a factor.

Yes there is a bias towards coalition physicians because they are scrutinized by the editor of this site and he determines who will be allowed to be a member of the coalition.(Also, see title at top of site) They have a proven track record and therefore it is easier to make a quick recommendation.

That being said however we are always wanting to see more work from physicians in S.E. Asia and Europe and once there is more evidence that they are producing consistant results they too will be recommended. It looks like you will have some good results and I'm happy you posted. Please keep us posted as there are positive changes.

Thanks for your response. I completely understand the need for scrutiny on this site.. its a huge discussion, and one I will not be completely comfortable with until I see the results.

Regarding my scar, I am very concerned about it.. I have worn a hat for the past month and was really hoping that it would not be so noticeable by now...I go back to work in a week and cant wear a hat...I tend to hold redness in scars for sometime and my hair is light and fine which makes it worse.. I'm a little (a lot) stressed about the whole thing.

I don't really believe there is "bias" (prejudice) toward one surgeon or another here. We really just tell what we've seen first hand, or heard based on experiences of our own or other posters. I'm always excited to see quality work from a surgeon, whether or not he's recommended here.

creeping- from all appearances, you received a quality job from the Doc............thanks for sharing. Scar's are funny, some never look like they had one, some take time to heal. I remember Dr. Wong's finishing comments to me when closing the donor area "I've done my job..........now the rest is up to you"........genetics, my friend. Did the Doc use trychophytic donor closure where the hair grows through the scar? Just give it some time. At one month...........you've got tons of healing to do.........chin up!!

I would say your early results look quite promising, your scar looks fine, it usually takes a few months for the skin tone to match that of the surrounding areas, on me it takes over a year ...

Hopefully you have let your hair grow a little longer so that it is more easily concealed.

At 1 month post op, I don't believe you have anything to be concerned about regarding your scar. Scars typically take 12 months to mature where they become more white in appearance rather than red or pink. Additionally, it is common to have shockloss in the donor area, and at 1 month post op, this could be true for your case. Additionally, your lighter hair could also have a factor as it's been said, also, it appears your donor area isn't very dense, which may also show the scar more readily than those with thicker donor areas.

That being said, the only uncertainty I have is the width of the scar. The redness does make the scar appear a bit wide from the picture. How does this look in the mirror? Is the scar as wide as the redness? Or is the redness also surrounding the scar giving it a slightly wider appearance?

Also...how did the doctor close the donor area? Did he use stitches? From the picture, I'm having difficulty telling what he used to close it. Also, did he give you a trichophytic scar?

He did use the trichophytic closure method.
I can feel a very slight raise in the scar, maybe a 1/4 of the width of the redness...I am hoping this will be the size when healed. I am using aloe, bio-oil, and a silicone scar gel...maybe a bit excessive.

I forgot to mention that he used Absorbable stitches and about 5 non-absorbable which he removed about 5 days after surgery.

You should be fine as you have had top technology and are taking care of things with a good post surgery regimine. Best of luck with everything for you.

Thanks for all your feed back..I emailed Dr. Pathomvanich today to find out how many graft I got per sq centimetre and his replied was

"The grafts transplanted on the frontal area of your scalp was approximately 40 grafts per square centimetre with one graft containing 1-3 hairs each."

Will this give me good density?

Just thought I would add a few updated pics. Everything seems to be going well. I pretty much have my pre HT hair back, its just much shorter...see lots of little hairs popping up... not sure if it's "new" hair or just shockloss recovering....My Donor scar is still very noticeable on the sides, but using Dermatch I can hide it well ... pretty excited for the coming months...

Hey, nice to hear from you! Sounds like you're starting to see some action which is great. Just takes a little time. I'll be the next 2 months will prove "hairly" eventful for you!

Sorry to hear your scar is still noticable. At this point, I would think it would have started to cover a little better. How long are you clipping your hair by the scar? Is the scar still reddish or starting to lighten up at this point? Any hair starting to come through it? Everyone heals differently so it may be that you just need to give it a couple more months and it will start to cover better.

my sides are cut to 44mm not sure what blade that is... hair is growing through the scar and it has gone from red to pink but is still thicker then I have noticed from others on this site...I'm hoping I'm just a slow healer... you cant see it from the back...I'm just very happy to have found this site and purchased Dermatch before hand.

Thought I would add a scar Pic, this is about 12 weeks.

It looks well healed; it must just be your skin type causing the residual pinkness. When my sister gets a scar, it is months before that pinkish hue goes away.
