Hey B Spot! I'm glad to hear from you! Yeah man, I'm pretty psyched about how this one looks from the start. Of course, the real excitement will begin when I start to see the results from this...but I have a long way to go for that.

Yeah, I'm comfortable with the decision to take the scar up that high. Dr. Hasson seems confident with the choice and he's been doing it a long time...so I'm content in it.

So hmm....what will I do differently when I have a head of hair...that's an excellent question! I'm thinking for starters, I will lose the hat almost completely. I have been wearing hats all my life so I will still wear it from time to time, but no longer as regular attire. Altogether, I will feel more confident, but my life probably won't change much. I already have myself a good women and good friends. The only thing that's really going to change about me is my look. I'm considering shaving the goatee off once my hair has grown in a good amount....time for a neater younger look eh?

Thanks for the encouragement. I'll keep you posted for sure!

Dude, you are going to have to comb it with a rake when all that comes in! Congrats - I am going for my third in January. I am working on the scalp exercises to increase laxity, I would not have known about that without guys like you all on this forum, Good luck with the new hair and I am sure your scar will not be bad up that high, your sides look strong and probably won't drop.

Cheers to Falc!!!!

Your hairline is going to be killer. I can't wait 12 months from now to see before and after photos from when you had no HT's.. It will be amazing!! Everything looks great.. The donor area looks fine.. If it is hair that is DHT resistant than it's there for the harvesting & Dr. H knows what he is doing .. I had the T closure and at 10 months post op I can clip down to Guard 2 or so on the sides and back without detection. My hair is thick on the sides and back as well .. I just sent in a request to Dr. H to assess my situation as well. Only challenge I cannot shave my head as I will have to return to work and need to have a viable hairstyle .. I have left the donor area about 3-4 guard in the past to cover the stitches . The top is clipped to about 3 guard so it will look uniform upon going back to work (using Dermatch)..

nobuzz4me,

lol...a rake? That's funny! You're going for your third HT? How did your first 2 sessions? Any pictures? Who are you going to for your third? I'm glad I can be a help to you in your research! Good luck in January....do stay in touch...post your experience and photos...not only will it help others but you'll receive some good support

Mrjb,

I sent you a PM by the way...so check it out. Yeah, I can't wait for this one to grow out....hopefully I'll see some killer changes by about 6 months onward. I'm glad you can shave down to a 2 guard without any noticing of a scar. That would be great if I can do the same when the time comes. Well, I'm not sure if Dr. Hasson would do a surgery without shaving the recipient area...he makes such a strong case for it that I think it's very sensical. I understand the work situation though. Can you wear a hat? Maybe if you can...just start wearing a hat occasionally at work starting now and eeze into wearing it every day....that way 3 months after surgery you can start taking it off again. Just a thought.

Falc

Falc,

Congrats to you! I, like many others, have been following your story and pics here. I really think 3701 additional grafts should give you the density you're looking for. Did Dr. Hasson provide you with any idea of what you increased your overall density per sq. cm to? Just curious as I've thought of doing the same thing at some point in the future.

I hope you'll continue to post your updates as you've been faithful doing in the past. It's great to be able to follow the progress.

Hello Hairbank,

Good to hear from you man. Thanks for your support. It is people like you who are interested in seeing the progress pictures that makes me so faithful in doing it. I long for the support and also encourage and support others...so I'm glad that both is happening. Unfortunately, I don't know the overall density per sq cm....I think I might email Dr. Hasson and ask him. I would actually like to know that.

Talk soon man,

Falc

Joe,

Great meeting you too man! Sorry I missed your post...it must have gotten lost in the shuffle. 2.5 hours eh? That's a long time. I know he said it was complex, but it seems he did a terrific job! Well, I have just shaved my head down to a 1 clip so it's more even with the top now. Can't wait to remove these staples now Wink

I am curious at what point does your hair look normal again that you can go back into the public eye? if you could document that I would sure appreciate it. congrats, once the surgery is done its downhill from there. you are very fortunate to have such a supporting wife, does she have a cute single sister?

LOL Troy. Yes, my wife is great...she's a real blessing.

Well, to answer your question, it's hard to judge exactly what one would consider "normal". For starters, I did what Jotronic did and shaved my whole head just last night on Day 5 so it's more uniform. I'd say between day 7 and 11 all the scabs should be gone but I'll still have a slight pinkish scalp. After that, around day 11 or 12 I'll take the staples out and re-shave my head. At that point, it should look relatively uniform, but I guess one might not call a shaved head normal...especially since the scar will be obvious in the back. One might consider for one to look completely normal, you will have to wait about 2 months and sport a shorter hairdo....but to me, I'll look normal enough by about day 14 or 15 when everything is uniform, no more scabs and these staples are out. Does that help?

Hi all

Yes, this is why i can't consider shaving my head for the procedure.. Falc, what do you do professionally that allows you such flexibility of your hairstyle or lack of it ( haha) ..
This topic is a make or break for me ..The bottom line is I need to be able to go back to work within 10 days and be able to mask the procdure with Dermatch one way or the other. This is what I have done previously for both HT's with no prob.. I wrote to H & W to see if this was acceptable.. I could probably do guard number 2 on the the top to make it look uniform upon return..

Hi JOBI,

Well, I work in an office, but we are pretty free to wear what we want for the most part...including hats....which works perfectly for me. But even if I couldn't, I'd go through it all again anyway and just sport a 1 clip buzz cut all the way around. People would notice and say something for a day and I'd just say I got tired of dealing with it and leave it at that. Some people would notice the scar but very few people would comment. If they did and asked about it, I'd just say it's personal and nobody will ask question. It really depends on how self conscious you are/will be for the short term. Shaving the head is just as acceptable as using dermatch to mask the procedure. 10 days is 10 days...all the scabs will be gone by then. The only thing that will be noticed is the scar, at least somewhat....and that might not even be that noticable. It depends for sure.

Day 6 Update:

Shaved head last night to a 1 clip to even it out. It's not exactly fair because techincally Dr. Hasson used a 0 clip on top of my head for the recipient area...so it doesn't quite match...but in time, the match will be better. Still some scabs remaining but it seems to be healing up nicely. Some irritation in the donor area....sides and back still feel tight as expected. There's only been minor swelling so far the last few days. Today it's moved down a little toward my eyes...but nothing compared to the last surgery. Perhaps this is because they needed less anesthetic for this surgery? More to come

Thanks dude. I've been comparing my immediately post op results with other people's immediately post op results to compare, hoping to see what I might look like in about 6 months. Seems like I'm comparable in density to a few people I've checked out where I think their hair looks great! So here's hoping Wink

Jobi,

Thanks man. Yeah, I'm sure it will make a big difference. After all, I had mostly grafts on my head and that was 3849. I've almost doubled that with this surgery!

Falc,

Your hairline is going to be very nice and thick! Plus, that 'whirl' never ceases to impress me. There is so much attention to detail in this area. I can only imagine that there is but a handful of doctors that can do this very successfullly!
