7 month update. Wet + dry by Dizzy (created on )Gallery | Comments

Hi guys! Im 2.5 month post HT and im frustrated. It looks terrible, I was promise density but its not dense at all. Before the HT i could have normal hair style without any body thinking im getting bold. Now I have to hide the area, the styling in the morning takes way more time than before and the results are way worse. What is youre opinion? Will I need more HT to get a "normal" look? Im starting to regret I ever did HT.....

Give us more details about your work. Doctor, graft count, hair count, etc. But your question seems really naive--don't you know that at 2.5 months you won't see any results yet? You probably look worse b/c you experienced some temporary shock loss of the native hairs in the transplanted area. It's WAY too early for you to be concerned about growth.

well It was performed in Scandinavia (its were im from). Some rumors say its were Bruce Willis did his HT. I dont know how many grafts i got, all I remember is that i was suppost to get 120-130 hairs or grafts dont know the difference per cm2.

Way too early yet...give it at the very least 6 months. This is actually when you head should look the worst if you were to go by the "textbook". Do some research on this site and you'll get the idea of what to expect in the future.

Try applying some Dermmatch to it, it might really help in your case. I think it would actually make your head of hair look absolutely normal.

Yeah, I would do more research if I were you. If you don't know what a graft is o.r how many grafts you got, and believe that Bruce Willis would go to Scandinavia for a HT (LOL), you should educate yourself more about this whole process. I hope it turns out well for you, but given your state of knowledge you're vulnerable to be misled. The measurement you've given of 120-130 hairs/sq. is a meaningless unit. You should know how many grafts per sq. cm. you received and how many grafts total were transplanted. Otherwise, what did you pay for? Best of luck

At 2.5 months, MAYBE 10 to 15% of the hair has started to grow. Usually this starts at month 3 and continues for another 6 to 8 months. You may be experiencing shockloss in and around the transplanted areas, so take a breath and relax. Given the outline of hair in the transplanted region, I would say that you did not have a very large session, and should anything be amiss, you can fly over the pond to see a Doc in the US/Canada.
Again, 2.5 months is way to early to start stressing out. Relax and wait another 3 to 4 months, as that will tell a better story.
Cheers!

It can depending on the lighting. There was a great post on the site about photographing you hair, try clicking the find button and doing a search. It was really informative. Best of luck!

Dizzy, I just had an HT, and I'm very sypathetic to your concerns, but you don't seem to know what you got in terms of an HT, and your doctor doesn't seem to have appropriately set your expectations.

You've gotten a lot of good advice here, but shouldn't you also accidentally contact your doctor and ask him too?

Best of luck,

Dizzy,

If I were you........................I'd contact the HT Doc and try to find the number of grafts you received so you can get a better idea of what to expect. At 2.5 months, you still have tons of growth left to come but, if you only got 1000-1500 grafts your density won't be good. Given the area you were trying to cover, I'd guess 2500 grafts at a minimum for dense appearance, maybe 3000. Until you know what you received, it's really pure guesswork on the outcome.

At any rate, you just have to wait it out. Give it until 6-7 months and see what it looks like. You may want to try a concealer like dermmatch, as recommended earlier, after another month or so of growth you can probably make it work.

your hairline looks to low in my opinion. At 23 with your degree of hairloss I would have not brought the hairline down at all and settled for a denser windows peak.

Although on a plus side 2.5 months is not that long in terms of what to expect with HT growth. Although to have a good idea of what to expect I would go back to your doc and request how many grafts you got as well as how dense the packing was.

Hello Dizzy and welcome to the forums.

It's way too early to tell what your final result will be yet man. Most people don't even have new hair growth until about 3 months post op though I'm like you, I tend to start around 2.5 months post op. For comparision (though my hair loss pattern is different than yours), feel free to click on the Dr. True or Dr. Katz link below to see where I was at 2.5 months verses 6 months. It's night and day, apples and oranges. At 2.5 months, I was feeling just like you were...but this stage is very normal, typically referred to as the doldrums (spelling) or awkward stage. Don't be discouraged.

Additional advice: At this point, you already had an HT. With no disrespect, I would have recommended to you that you did more research before taking the plunge. But at this point, we must move forward. First thing, find out how many grafts (grafts are different than hair counts) you received. You might also want to find out approximately how many 1 hair, 2 hair, 3 hair, and 4 hair follicular units were extracted and used. Each of these units is considered 1 graft. So it's easy to say that the number of hairs extracted could easily double the number of grafts extracted. For consolation purposes, my next piece of advice is look at people's before/after pictures and you should find that nobody has good results at 2.5 months. Most people start to grow hairs around 3 months and by about 6-8 months people start looking pretty good, but the maximum result is typically about 1 year after surgery.

I hope this helps.

Falc

2.5 months is far too soon to assess - it not really even started to grow yet!! You need to continue to be patient and over the next several months you will see the growth come through.

Yes Dizzy. Too soon to tell!! But you are getting growth so that is a good thing! Shockloss is a part of this procedure too!!

My recommendation. Clip you hair a little lower for the next few months so it is more even. Month 3 real growth starts. Month 6-8 you will know what you will look like for life so grow your hair out again then to see.

Hang in there! You made the right decision!!

Dizzy,

Another month and a half has passed since your last post before this one. Any updated pictures you can share with us? Has there been any change? 2.5 month was simply not enough time to determine any growth as you've been told above. 4 months isn't that much better...but if you are an early starter, there could be some differences from then. Keep us posted!
