I just had my 1st transplant a little over a week ago with Dr.J Epstein. I had 2,900 grafts mainly done on the frontal to mid-scalp. Scabs have been coming off the past couple of days and still have a bit of pain on the donor site especially. I hope everything turns out well down the road. I was a little scared since I have seen what I believe to be some grafts fall out over the past few days after rubbing of scabs. Anyway..now the long wait for growth.

Hi Arion,

Your immediate post op pic looks a little rough (very red). I can see you probably had a tougher than average recovery for your first week. The following pics look much better. Yea, the waiting will seem long. It's best if you can find something else to concentrate on for the next 6 months.

Congrats on your surgery. I hope your hairs grow well.

arion,

Welcome to our discussion forum and congrats on your recent surgery with Dr. Epstein. You are in the very best of hands.

Given that you are only in your first week after surgery, be very careful when touching the grafts. Be sure to follow your postoperative instructions and don't be too rough with the scabs.

In my experience, delicately working your fingertips (do NOT use your nails) through the grafts with shampoo in a circular motion to gently wash the area and carefully work off the scabs works wonders and keeps the grafts safe. Never pick at the scabs, only gently massage them in a circular motion.

Heal and grow well.

Falc

Looks like it was a little rough going but you were in good hands and just a matter of time and you should be golden. Keep us all posted.
