based on what you have shared I would in your shoes, seriously consider making myself scarce in terms of further interactions with this "family". You state there are some mental issues with this individual. As such you must realize that you are compromising everyone's well being including your own and that of the baby.

She alone holds the keys here. Can she go to family or girlfriends if she leaves him and this house? If she is truly unhappy then she needs to take action and either ask him to seek counseling together, or if she feels its irreconcilable, break it up in a public place. Continuing to share a roof means that she has not made that choice yet.

Ask yourself if their lives would evolve differently if you were not around?

Again, respect the "family" regardless how dysfunctional it may seem to you or how attracted you may feel to her.

I do value you guys input - most guys on this site is past their 30's and probably have considerable more insight than i do.

They have already broken up and are basically living seperate lives - only that neither of them will move, and neither can legally make the other one do so. And he refuses to let go of her.

She loves the house and has poured much more money into it than he has - so she really wants to stay, but she has promised me that if it's not going be happen, she will move.

Why do you think i should respect the family? They are not - just 3 people with the same bloodline. In my book, a family is more than that - it's about love, respect, union, socialization, support - and they are giving each other neither.

Plenty of other girls out there. Stay out of this situation, as nothing good can come of it.

Nothing except love ofcourse...
