hi im just a little concerned at the moment and would like some advice please. Ive been taking proscar on private prescription from my gp for around 4 years maybe more with no side effects at a dose of half a 5mg tablet every other day.I get my prescription from my pharmacy at the gp surgery. The last prescription i got i went to a different pharmacy in town and was given dr freddys finesteride 5mg tablets. i appreciate that the active ingredient in proscar, fin and propecia is finesteride, but are there any other differences? The reason i ask is that recently after taking dr freddys fin ive developed (sounds gay this) tender nipples that seem to be erect all the time( oh my god cant believe im writing this) could it be a difference between proscar and fin?. Should i lower my dose to 1mg per day or stop for a while advice needed please as i dont want BIG TITTYS.

ps ive gained half a stone recently too many pizzas could this be related?

Bullitnut,

I think the answer might be right there in your PS mate!
Seriously though, as long as you're getting it from a reputable place ie. not internet, I wouldn't worry about it.

bullitnut, just realised your in UK. I've got my fin from Boots, Superdrug and NHS pharmacy in the past-different ones each time. Not heard of Dr. Freddys, did you mean Dr. REDDYS? I got these last time from Superdrug.

Looks like you got your Q answered........

to clarify.....Finasteride is the actual med. Propecia is a 1mg tab of "finasteride", Proscar is a 5mg tab of "finasteride". Other variations like fincar, same deal, active med is "finasteride". The 1mg dose is used for hairloss, the 5mg dose is used for BPH - an enlarged prostate.

Hope this helps -

bullitnut,

I think you will find cutting the Proscar pill into 5ths to be quite difficult. What I do is cut it into quarters and then skip the 5th day. Seems to be working well for me!

Best wishes,

Falc
