Hi,
I know there really is no exact answer to this, but I assume there would be an average no? For example, I started to lose my hair when I was 19. It started from the front. Now after 13 years, my hair line is definitely higher, i've lost hair from the temples and my hair at the front is beginning to get pretty thin. Yet I still have coverage on the front and top. I know people who started to lose their hair years after me, and they are now bald. I understand that for some hair loss can occur at a fast rate while for others its a slow process, but just how slow can slow be? Anyone have any thoughts/idea? thanks |

nm76, I have also thought about this, but really don't think that at some far off distance I could wind up becoming a n6 or n7. There's pretty good signs early on that you'll end up losing it all. I hope your taking your finesteride daily to slow your hair loss down, considering you can continue to stay on it with little or no side effects for about a year or so to really start seeing the results.

I've actually never taken anything for my hair loss. The only thing I started to do, about 4 years ago was tom hagerty's scalp exercise. Perhaps thats helped. I dont know.

by the way if i've understood you correctly...Are you saying some of us are prone to ending up as a n6 or n7...whereas some of us will eventually stabilize and never reach that level of baldness - provided we use something to prevent further loss or not for that matter?

Personally, I think it just depends on your genetic makeup. Even without my plug work, I'd have some hair at 42; which is more than my father had at 28. He's a true NW 7 but I guess since my maternal grandfather had a full head of hair I might have taken some from him. Also, we've all known 25 year olds who are already a NW7. I do think things sort of slow down for most people at 35 or so. 300 'mini' grapfts by Latham's Hair Clinic - 1991 (Removed 50 plugs by Cooley 3/08.) 2750 FU 3/20/08 by Dr. Cooley Current regimen: 1.25 mg Proscar M-W-F Rogaine 5% Foam - once daily AndroGel - once daily Lipitor - 5 mg every other day Weightlifting - 2x per week Jogging - 3x per week |

I was one of those NW 7s by age 25. My father who is in his late 70s and has slowly been losing hair for the last 40 years still has more than I did when I was 21. My 2 brothers fall somewhere in the middle with one definately heading towards NW 6 although it's taken 20 plus years, so I don't think there's any real average or anything.
Using laser brush since 7/26/07. Working great so far. |
