I have spent the last 4 years, and countless dollars on a 'system'. I'm DONE !! I'm shaving the head next month while in Hawaii. My question is if it is possible to receive a HT while keeping the hair very short? Or will the surgery and associated sensitive areas really stand out? Also, I hope I have not suffered additional hair loss around the "adhesive strip" area. Is this a distinct possibility? I hope I'm not permanently messed up !
from what i have read, most docs prefer a shaved head prior to surgery, so no problem there. Also, if there is any loss from your piece rubbing, and it is likely temporary. if you can swing it you might want to wait a few weeks before your HT to see what comes back, lest a doctor inplants a new graft into a healthy but dormant follicle. i'm speculating.
thanks Hugh. Your input is helpfull. As far as the HT goes...I will be waiting a while to analyze the whole procedure, doctors, etc. Maybe a long while due to $$. So in the meantime I will enjoy the freedom from brushes, combs, and windy days. And I DO HOPE that any 'rubbing' loss is temporary !!
Yes, your surgery will do better with a shaved head, however your results will show more until healing takes place. The receipant site will be OK in about 4 weeks, the donor site in the back you might want to grow you hair to about 1/4 inch to hide the scar.
