My father has this problem and I think I do. Can it be a genetic problem? Or I am to try finding another reason?

Nioli,
I assume ou are referring to hairloss as the problem. While there may be different causes of hairloss, genetics play a huge role. Since your Father has it, you should be aware of your family history even on your Moms side. Then see a dermatoligist to see if any other factors are contributing. Do a search on causes of hairloss on the forum search tool and I am sure you will find more info. Good luck my friend, |

Nioli,
Everyone above gave you some excellent answers. I can also only assume you mean hairloss. Indeed if it is MPB - male pattern baldness, it is genetic. This does not mean that you will lose hair exactly like your father or grandfather on either side, etc. Even if the gene is present, not everyone who has it will lose their hair, depending on whether it is dominant or recessive. But the bad news is, even a recessive gene can be passed down and combined with the right genes can become dominant, etc. Unfortunately, hairloss due to MPB is unpredictable which is why we recommend those experiencing it get on finasteride (propecia or proscar) which will help slow down or stop hairloss. It on rarer occasions will regrow some hair. Minoxodil can also be used to stimulate new growth, but it's a messy regime...personally, I don't use it....but it does wonders for some, and not for others. BUT, perhaps it's worth seeing a dermatologist if you feel it's something other than MPB. Hope this helps. Falc To learn about how I restored my hair, read my hair restoration story with pictures.
