I'm 25 and always had a thick head of hair. About 2 years ago I started noticing some "temple recession". It hasn't gotten much worse in the last two years. I think I might be thinning on my crown...not sure yet if it's my imagination. I noticed some hair falling out when I was washing my hair the other day so I got Provillus (yes I got scammed in my haste) and Rogaine foam.
Family history: Paternal grandfather - bald crown, father bald crown...all uncles and maternal grandfather...horse shoe. The only difference is...they were all bald by the time they were my age. Regardless, I'm pretty sure I have the curse. I'm thinking I'll slow it as much as I can until I need hair transplant surgery, not sure if this is the most logical. I know everything works different on everyone but what have you all noticed that really slows the thinning? The magic question right? How much does hair transplant surgery cost (average? I know it varies). Any help with be greatly appreciated. Rogaine Foam Provillus? |

Maybethecurse,
Welcome to our forum. In my opinon, Propecia and Rogaine are the best non-surgical hair loss treatments that are typically good at stopping hair loss and might even regrow hair. I recommend considering these and trying them for at least a year (less any side effects) before considering hair transplant surgery. Hair transplant surgery is expensive and may be a worthy investment if you are the right candidate. Costs depends on the number of surgeries you will need throughout your life (hair loss is progressive and unpredictable), the number of follicular unit grafts needed, the costs of the clinic, etc. Most clinics typically charge between $3-$5 per follicular unit graft, and if you multiply your norwood level by 1000, this will give you a very rough idea of what a hair transplant surgery may cost. I hope this helps. Falc To learn about how I restored my hair, read my hair restoration story with pictures. See also my hair loss weblog. Propecia/proscar and rogaine/minox !!! I use the proscar witch is the same as propecia and costs alot cheaper. You just need to find a doc who will prescribe it to you. Then you cut the tabs into 1/4 doses. I use the minox kirkland costco brand which costs $17.99 for a 6 month supply. I am going to change to the rogaine foam which is $40.00 for a 3 month supply but alot of the guys like it because they are only using it once per day before bed and not twice with the solution. Definitely wait a year and see how the meds work. Start doing research now on hts and find a great doctor. If you decide to do ht in the future dont let distance be the main factor. Where do you live ?
