Hellow everybody,

I am thinking of choosing Dr.Bernstein for my HT procedure. He is from NHI and practices in NJ and NY. I don't know a lot about this doctor. Is there anybody out there who had HT done by this doctor and if so, how good or bad he is. I would like to know the good and bad please.

Also, if there is any link to any websites for this doctor would be appreciated. I went to the NHI websites and it doesn't say much about this doctor. Please help!!

Thanks.

i'm 9 months post op from a dr b. ht,all is well
and looking real good.read all my posts,by clicking on my name and you will see all the
highs and lows,i went through and they're all normal.don't worry,dr b is good and you're in
good hands, but i do understand your concerns.
go to a seminar and see one in progress, the
neatness of it is what really grabbed me,and
you'll meet actual patients with good results.
good luck

When did you go back to work and was your HT noticeable? That is a huge concern of mine.

i had it done on a friday, and was back to work on
monday.there will be redness,especially if
grafting into bald skin, but honestly it wasn't
as bad and ugly as you may think.what i would
do if i were you,was what i did and it convinced
me to go ahead with it.there are open houses
where you can actually see a procedure in
progress, call nhi to find out when, the neetness
of the procedure was amazing,no blood or mess
like you may think.you'll actually see the
follicles placed in the guys head, and it's
quite simple and neet.when i saw this,it helped
me to go forward.for about 10 days after procedure,
you will be slightly red,so if you can wear a hat
or take a week or so off that will do you justice.
go to the open house, and see it being done, very
important if your hesitant, you'll see it doesn't
look bad then,so you'll have an idea on what to
expect.good luck

Thanks Figsy for the feedback. I did go back and read all your posts and in one of them you have mentioned that the doctor himself doesn't place the grafts - his technicians do it. I am not happy with this. Do all the doctors let their technicians do it? It will definitely give me comfort feeling if my doctor is doing everything. Also, is he really in the top 3 in the world? WOW!!

This is a question for everybody. Why do we have to pay the entire fee up front? Why can't the doctors get half before and half after the procedure. This way there is some pressure on them not to screw it up.

Thanks again!!

most do let the techs do it.i too was concerned
about it,but by seeing it done in person, you'll
see there's no science in placing the grafts.what
they will tell you and makes sense is that, the
aestetics is in the cutting and angling.dr b
does all the cutting of the sites and donor strip.
you should discuss that with him if it concerns
you.he does though supervise the placing, but says
the techs do it so often, they're better than he
at it.who knows if that is actually the case, but
by anymeans the work is nice, judging from mine
and others i have seen, but be sure.go to an open
house if you haven't already and watch as they
do it.by the way dr. b was one of the pioneers
of the fut procedure,i spent countless hours
reading articles from various medical journals
that he wrote.these articles outline the facts
for other doctors to learn from,so yes the guy
is one of the top 3,and highly regarded.good luck
