This weekend, I happened to run into two acquaintances I haven't seen in about 7-8 months: one was a friend I ran into when I was in his neighborhood, and the other a girl at a birthday party for her sister I attended. They didn't recognize me! The first friend I ran into on the street, and he was eyeing me strangely for a few seconds while his wife said hello, after which he did also (he's thinning, and so he later asked me about details once I told him I had a HT).

But by far the funnier one was at the party. I walked in and the girl in question greets the folks I came with, stares at me with a quizzical look and proceeds to introduce herself. To which I reminded her how we all actually *know* each other there. The poor thing was embarassed while I was grinning like an idiot.

It's amazing how much difference hair makes. Have any of you similar stories to report?

It's always nice when somebody notices something POSITIVE about you...or heck...the fact that we KNOW we look better and then someone doesn't recognize us. It's a good feeling.

I've had people notice different things about me, but not necessarily not recognize me. I've gotten "you look thinner", "you look great", "Did you dye your hair", "Did you dye your eyebrows?" (what the...), "Something is different about you".

..and yes...the dreaded question..."Did you get plugs?"

YES, somebody asked me that!

Whereas everyone here reading this is probably cringing, we have to remember that most people don't really know what they are asking. What was really being noticed was that I had more hair. But who is going to ask "Did you get follicular unit transplantation from an elite physician?". NOBODY!!! Because they don't know. The only word they can think of is "plugs".

So even though the question seemed offensive, it was actually a postive remark.

Ya, but unfortunately it was not under good circumstances. Frown They had seen me before with a hat on and then later without and didn't recognize me. I have been told and personally believe that I can sometimes look 10-15 yrs younger with a hat on as I am in good shape and have younger facial characteristics.

Prior to being married when I was 30-33, I had no problem approaching and doing well with hotties a lot younger as long as the hat was on. It was not just my insecurities taking over, most would not have been interested had I not been wearing it--except those that knew I had some money and a good career.

Interesting topic as it reminds me of some of those hidden camera things where you see how a good looking person is treated differently when dressed as an overweight unattractive person.

Haha

Same thing happened to me last week. I was walking with firends and saw 3 girls I know.. i waved them coming our way as they were about 150 yards away..

Finally, once they got closer, one of the girls said she didn't recognize me because of my hair ( ha ha what an obvious but non, observation)

Yes, it does make a huge difference. Lastly, Ikeep on getting the whole "lost weight question".. It's really freaky!!

Unfortunately I had sort of the opposite. A girl I was dating a while before I had my HT knew I was looking into having it done. We broke up and I had several HT sessions starting about 6 months after we broke up. About 3 years later we met again and she asked me why I never had the transplant that I said I was going to do. My hair had been falling out so fast that the HT did not even bring me to where I had been 6 months prior to starting. The "After" pictures of my top and back look worse than the "before" pictures.

Using laser brush since 7/26/07. Working great so far.

It was a long time ago. I had tried minoxidil at the time, but it made me dizzy and a rapid heart beat with some chest pain. I had to stop taking it. I've been on proscar for 10 years now.
