I recently went to two different hair dressers and they both gave me a "protein rinse" or protein conditioning treatment. I don't think that this helps but I've only had two treatments. Any info on protein products for external use?

It is just a type of conditioner which might help cosmetic properties of the hair.

No big deal

Protein products are good for strengthening existing (dead!) hair in moderation. Too frequent use will make the hair brittle and more prone to breakage. It doesn't change growth at the root.
