This is basically a glorified Wig. It can actually damage existing hair and scalp..
In my opinion, it's a short term method of hair replacement.

Gus, I am no expert having never worn a piece but it is a wig as Mrjb said. They braid your exsisting hair on the sides in knots and tie down the wig with loops thru the braids. It pulls on the existing hair and can damage it (traction alopecia), also as your own hair grows the knots come loos and they have to re-braid and re-tie every couple of weeks.
