Does anyone know if most insurance plans cover Proscar? What is the main reason this drug is used? I now know that Propecia is costly and not covered. Just curious.

I don't know what percentage of plans cover it, but a lot do. Mine does at a cost to me of $35 for 30 pills, @ 5%.
COMMON USES: This medicine is an androgen hormone inhibitor used in men to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) which is swelling of the prostate. This medicine works by lowering the amount of a hormone in your body called dihydrotestosterone or DHT. Reducing this hormone level in your body may help to reduce the swelling of the prostate and reduce the symptoms of BPH. Altair, who is your RX provider? Maybe I can help you, to see if it is covered. Otherwise they may have a website you can look on. Mine did, and told me the cost of it under my plan. |

Proscar there is a 50/50 chance. Propecia-- only 5% of the AAA insurance plans cover-- those are the ones that also cover Viagra.
