Hey guys, now I know I've been posting a ton of questions lately, and I think I'll settle it down here. But, I dunno, I'm just a guy who wants to deal with this the best I can, so I hope nobodys getting too annoyed with me here. I was just wondering if there's any claims or hard evidence that smoking might speed up the hair loss process in certain individuals? I ask this because I am a smoker and it seems that I only started to lose my hair when I really started smoking. Coincidence? Maybe. But it always been a question I've had in the back of my head, so I thought I'd ask it.

Don't sweat asking questions. That's what the forum is for and chances are you are asking some questions others want answered as well. I think someone addressed this topic a while back. Do a search. Maybe arfy knows. I'm not gonna sweat your lifestyle habits, but when you consider that having an HT is usually to increase one's personal image, then quitting smoking will certainly do that too. I know it is not easy, but why remain a slave to nicotine? Quitting shows courage, determination, and character. vocor1 Knowledge is Power If the worst question is the one never asked, then the worst answer is the one never shared. |

I've seen guys that are Drug Addicts and Alcoholics, that have a complete head of hair !!
People like me who has been working out and taking supplements since my teens, lose their hair. Sure smoking with all its chemicals in it, is constantly making the body try to get rid of all the posions all the time, instead of rebuilding the body, and including hair, from the nutrients it takes in. Smoking is a toxic to the body as its made to breath Oxygen, not smoke !! But believe hair loss is Genetically based, regardless of what a person takes in there body ! Its like anything, smoking will accelerate the aging process and if you are genetically programed to lose your hair, it would accelerate it !! It like guys with Greying or White hair that are young, they are lacking minerals in their diet so hair pigmentation is not being properly replaced fast enough. Smoking does not help anything, except the aging process accelerate faster !! Look at older people who smoked all their lives, wrinkles galore !! Its called cross-linking of the collagen fibers in the skin from smoking !! Thanks |

If you smoke, in this day and age when we all know without a doubt what it does to your body, you are either suicidal or stupid. Why make your skin look 20 years older than it is? Why cut years off your life?

Yea it's true that there are crackheads and such with full heads of hair. But every one person is different and smoking might affect each individual differently. I like what topjimmy said when he said that smoking accellerates the aging process, so people who are genetically programmed to lose their hair, lose it sooner than if they hadn't smoked. Makes sense. Anybody else have any thoughts or hard facts. Also, any Propecia experts know if smoking hinders Propecia substantially? This is an important question, cause I'm really hoping on Propecia to give me some good results. Thanks allot guys for sharing.
