Hello. I lived the last 5 years (and still going) being bald. I been really thinking about a transplant yet I still have a few questions. Can anyone please answer them?
Okay..First off, Is there a certain age limit to get a transplant?
Is it possible to get a full head of hair transplant?
How much do you think it would cost for a project like that?
Is there a certain time period where you can't wear anything on your head after the transplant?
Please..If anyone has any information and could answer these questions, please respond or simply email me personally. Thank you for your time!

Dear Moss:

There is no particular age limit for hair transplantation.I would be very reluctant to perform a procedure on a patient less than 20 years of age. In young individuals one should be very conservative since you cannot be sure as to how far the baldness might progress. I have performed hair transplants on men in their early twenties but I often advise that they try medication such as Propecia and Rogaine before committing to surgery. I have performed hair transplants in men who are well into their late seventies and even one gentleman who is 80.

Depending on the degree of baldness and the donor hair available it may be possible to provide a patient with what appears to be a full head of hair. Remember there is only so much donor hair available and you are simply moving the hair from one area to another.

The cost can vary widely.A patient who is bald in the frontal half might need two to three sessions of follicular unit grafts. Each session might be 1500-2000 grafts and the cost might work out to be perhaps 5000 - 7000+ dollars per session.Again alot depends on the surface area to be covered. Most physicians provide lower fees with subsequent sessions.

After the procedure you can wear a hat for several days if you like.

I hope this info helps
