Why is it that certain doctors claim a higher amount of donor supply than others? I doubt it is because they are uneducated. This is the cornerstone for anybody's HT density forecasting. If it is so curcial with aren't the numbers even close? One would believe that if it were on the high side (10k on average) than you could have higher density? Is it because of the law of conservativism?

olsjar,

I am afraid that I don't quite understand where you're coming from? Did you get a consultation from a couple of physicians whose opinions didn't match?

Or are you referrring to the inconsistency of different physician's opinions from emailed photographs? If this is the case, there are many things that can hinder a doctor's opinion.

Lighting, picture quality, etc. all play crucial roles in determining how accurate a physician can be. They are, after all human (at least I think....).

The absolute best way to determine donor density is with a live consultation in which the physician uses a densometer. Anything less is just guesswork. I am sure that most physicians are giving you an estimate that will border on the conservative side. Some will lean more conservatively than others.

A person has the same amount of donor no matter what different surgeons say.
What some surgeons do, is they say you have "2,000 grafts" while another might say "3,000 grafts" the difference might be that the first surgeon is estimating 1 hair, 2-3 hair, and 4 hair grafts. While the 2nd surgeon is planning on mainly 1 and 2 hair grafts-- therefore more grafts to discect. This could be an explaination of your mixed feedback--
