Hi everyone,

So I have been dealing with hair loss pretty much since I was 19, and now I am 25. Here is a picture of my current state, the receeding hair is pretty bad, plus it's thinning out at the top, most notably in the front. What would be the best thing I can do at this point to prevent any further hair loss? What is a hair doctor called, so I know what i'm looking for when I search. I'll apprciate any help! Thanks

Also, how expensive are those operations? Propecia? (I'm a little worried about propecia, considering the side affects).

I think the best thing you can do at the moment is try to prevent any further hairloss by taking FDA approved hairloss drugs. Propecia and Minoxidil are the only two FDA approved hairloss drugs so don't waste time and get in contact with a doctor who can make a better judgement of your hair loss. I see that you are not very comfortable with taking propecia, but nevertheless I would recommend you to take (after consulting a doctor) propecia for preventing any further hair loss, since hair loss is progressive and side effects of propecia are serious but not common. And if you should experience side effects you could always stop taking propecia.

After about 6-8 months you can evaluate the results of taking hairloss drugs and based on these results you can consider a hair transplantation.

There is a lot of information on this site available on hair loss so doing research on this website will help you to find an optimal solution for your hairloss.

Propecia (finasteride) and Rogaine (minoxodil) are the best line of defense you have against future hair loss. Research these hair loss medications thoroughly to understand the benefits, risks, and limitations of these medications. Consult also with your doctor, dermatologist, or a hair restoration specialist to determine the best long term plan of action.

And don't worry too much about side effects. They're very rare and you can always stop the meds to make them go away.

Bear in mind that it'll take up to a year before you see a difference.

Wise words from above. i have been taking Propecia for a long time with no side effects. Although, I don't use Minoxidil, Propecia has stabilize my loss andthe HT's have given me my hair back ..
