WARNING doesn't quite work this way. Not for me anyway, I am terrified to ride in cars with the tops down, go on rollercoasters, go swimming, anything with wind, get with girls, have sex, and basically to go out at all. Your so afraid of this damn thing coming off or it looking stupid that all this stuff you thought you'd be doing again, you're not, your self esteem was back, briefly, but now you're afraid to do things, and because of this the self esteem goes back down. Plus the thing is HIGH mantainence it takes a lot to make it look good and you have to go in all the time for "services" plus it costs a lot of money. In my opinion it is not worth it, however I cannot say if a HT is because I have no experience with that. However with my hair system experiences, it is what I call a "bitter sweet" experience. True if someone sees a picture of me I look a lot better, or if they seem me aroudn, I look a lot better. Thats all there is though, I'm too afraid to do anythign else, and because I have to avoid fun activities like theme parks the depression sets in etc.
My advice, avoid a hair s ystem, look into other treatments. Thats just me, I can post a pic if anyone wants and you may think it looks good, but the experience and lifestyle itself is just as rewaring as if you didn't have it all, so you might as well just be bald I would almost say. I tend to ramble when it comes to this topic because I"m overly passionate about the topic of hair loss since it affects me to such extremes and becasue I am so young. I appologize. My point, they aren't what they are made out to be, which hopefully, you should consider anyway before getting it. I did, but not to the extent I should have, besides at that point I really didn't care I just had to stop this "baldness" thing that I didn' thtink would hit me til I was like 40. |

Young Loser,
Welcome to the forums and thank you for your candid account of your experience. I think that posting a photo would be a great idea so other forum members would be able to see how it looks. You don't have to show your face, of course, and if you need help cropping your face out or posting photos, let me know. -Robert ------------------------------ Check out the results of my surgical hair restoration performed by Dr. Jerry Cooley by visiting my Hair Loss Weblog |

I dont think it looks bad at all its just a nightmare to deal with. Yes I'll need your help, I mean I can just show the hair and cut off the bottom of the picture if thats what you mean. Let me know, thanks for the welcome.
Young Loser P.S. The decesion to shave all of this off has almost come to 100% so I think thats what I'll end up doing and maybe look into HT a bit later, more like 24 or something? |

I feel your pain. I thought I was paranoid about my hairloss before I got a hair system. After I got one, I looked better but I was even more self conscious. I dreaded windy days, avoided swimming, amusement parks, playing sports, etc. All those infomercials were crap! The monthly maintenance is expensive, plus the replacement of the system every couple of months will drive you broke. I've had my hair system for 7 years before I decided to finally get a transplant. I've had 3 transplants so far in the last year and a half and I hope to lose the hair system as soon as this latest transplant grows in. It has become a crutch though as I'm having a hard time realizing my transplant will never achieve the fullness of my hair system but my advice to all is if you're considering a hair system - DON'T. Unless you live a sedentary lifestyle and have the cash to look like Rico Suave - go for it but it's more a pain than its worth. Shave it bald - the Kojak look is cool! Or spend the cash for a good transplant. The money you spend on 3 transplants will pay off all of the money you spend on hair systems and maintenance in 5 years. Plus its permanent and you can get on with your life!

Hi all.......I am new to the site as of tonight 8/15. I am a female and have thinning hair on my crown. Just got a Hair Club for Women system 1 week ago. Yes, I can relate it looks good, I have received so many complements, but there is NO WAY I would let a boyfriend TOUCH it, and the fron is already lifting. How is this thing gonna stay put if I water ski, get hit with a wave or what have you . So I am going to look into female HT. Thanks for your post , it makes me think, yes at first it was a rel Boost , then now I worry about it in the bright sun, is it lifting , etc. Well thanks for your post and it is good to be able to discuss this stuff with people that can understand such a sensitive issue

Hi shetiki,
I'm a 35-year-old woman who had a hair transplant of more than 1500 FUTs 6 months ago to restore a "feminine" hairline. Mine had receded at the temples around age 18. Six months post-op, I am seeing a lot of growth and progress, and still seem to be sprouting some new hairs...I think in another 2-4 months I will be extremely pleased with my results. I went to Dr. Lehr in OKC. One thing I would recommend as you start this journey toward a hair transplant is that you educate yourself very carefully. I would particularly recommend that you get a copy of Dr. Lehr's book that he wrote about transplants. You can get it from his website, which is accessible from this forum. There is an entire chapter solely about transplants for women. I found it very helpful as I was making my decision. I also think you should look into several doctors, get lots of online consults if necessary before making a decision. Also remember that shock loss is usually more of a factor for women than it is for men, particularly if you are transplanting into an area where hair already exists. It sounds like this is your case. Just be prepared that you could look even worse before you start to look better, because of shock loss. However, I think that most docs will allow you to wear your hair system once the incisions have healed up (about 10-14 days after surgery). Good luck to you. |

U2Mike:
you said" I've had 3 transplants so far in the last year and a half and I hope to lose the hair system as soon as this latest transplant grows in." Does this mean you can wear a piece over your newly tranplanted hair? do you have to keep the hair shaved while wearing your piece or??? I am considering both a transplant and wearing a piece until I am sure how much hair will fall out, and how much I will have left for donor hair. Since "hair cloning" is still off somewhere in the future I want to make sure I cover all bases. |
