hairthere:

I just received my pics from Dr. Feller complete with commentary. I also attached a post-op crown shot from Karamikian's lousy HT so you can see the difference. BTW, Feller estimated I got roughly 600 grafts total from Karamikian and I paid $7k...I could have had an FUE procedure for that much!

Spex,

Oddly enough, from the before pictures (which admittedly aren't very clear), I think hairthere's results from his first hair transplant looked pretty good.

Of course, once the pictures were posted with the shaved recipient areas, the use of 3 and 4 haired grafts in the hairline were obvious.

This is another clear case of why pictures sometimes don't necessarily expose the reality of a situation.

Thanks for posting these. I have confidence that this patient will be very satisfied with his results.

Thanks so much for posting these spex, i was just about to!

falc, yes my hair didn't look terrible, and I think I was lucky. i have very thick hair which i used to curse as a kid because it was so tough to style. now I'm so thankful for it.

Dr. Joseph Karamikian is a doctor in New York City and I paid nearly $7k for what Dr.Feller estimated was roughly 600 grafts total. I hadn't done my homework and Karamikian charges by area worked on, not graft count. I knew something was wrong though when i saw my head post-op which made me do more research and I discovered the HLH forum and then this one (thank god!!!).

I will post follow -up pics as the hair matures....

How can this Dr Karamikian have a liscense to practice this crap work. Hairthere, thankfully Dr. Feller has made you knew again, just aggravates me to know the money and donor hair that was wasted by the other doc.

Good luck,

Falceros,
There were virtually NO results from his first hair transplant. The only reason you may think he looks "good" is because of the thickness of his native hairs, NOT his transplants.

When the hairs were shaved it became obvious that the number of grafts that grew were negligable and stand out like a sore thumb as a few large dots in a field of minaturized hairs in the recipient area.

D. Feller summarized this first transplant best when he says a few "large dots." In person that's exactly what these grafts looked like up close, a field of black dots.

NN and NObuzz, thanks for the kind words. I'm very excited to see what my hair characterstics can do in the hands of a top doctor. And the whole experience at Dr.Feller's office was indeed TOP notch.

Regarding Karamikian, I just beg people who hear his name or know of someone going to him to steer them to my pictures or put them in touch with me so I can talk some sense into them.

Dr. Feller,

Thanks for the clarification. The minigrafts certainly became obvious when the head was shaved. It's lucky this patient had a good amount of native hair left.

One more thing to note: in the right profile picture of my post-surgery shots you'll notice six incision marks in pairs of two near my temple area. Those were these horrible looking mini-grafts that Karamikian randomly placed that stood out like a sore thumb. Dr. Feller punched them out and replanted them.

Chucky,
Right after my surgery I knew something was wrong, so I researched and found Dr.Feller. I consulted with him the next day and he confirmed they were not FUs. I went back to Karamikian, he denied he did anything wrong and told me if I wasn't satisfied he'd do another surgery for free. No way i was letting him anywhere near my head again, so I took him to small claims court. After going back to court 4 times I finally gave up. My only chance at restitution is to make people aware of his poor work via the Internet.

If hairthere had not had extremely good hair characteristics and alot of miniaturized native hair his first surgery would have looked far more obvious and unnatural.

When I first met him I also didn't notice the poor quality of the work until I looked closely and combed through it. At first, I couldn't even tell he had a transplant because it was cosmetically insignificant. Then I saw the few harsh looking "dots" of thick hairs in a field of thinner and finer hairs, THEN the picture became clear to me what happened.

Hairthere and his father came into my office visibly upset about the work they received with their first doctor, and upon inspection I found their anger justified.

Without any reservation I can state that neither his procedure, nor that of his father, were true FU procedures. Rather, it was old style mini/micrografting, and a poor job at that.

Karamikian (i'm dropping the doctor from his name) also led me to believe he would be implanting the entire frontal scalp area. I though the lowered hairline on the left and right sides was a bonus. It was immediately obvious after surgery that he did not implant grafts where my forelock had thinned considerably. that was my first tip-off that something was wrong. Karamikian told me he couldn't plant there for fear of shockoss. I then realized it was due to his lack of skills that he did not go into that area. And the crown work he did, as you can see, was pitiful (just look at the tremendous scabs). My crown post Dr.Feller had tiny little scabs that fell away within the week.

hi hairthere
i take it kamicrap had a good lawyer who kept stringing the case out.as you say at least through the forums you have exposed this guy for the poor results he produces.hopefully he will have a lot of cancellations and a sh*t christmas.

at least now you can move forward and iwish you all the best and great growth.

thanks chucky! it wasn't the lawyer (which actually hurt him because the court wanted karamikian to show up), it was the court. because of case overload they just kept pushing it back--4 times! in addition, karamikian was refusing arbitration which meant if he lost he could appeal. i just wanted to be done with it and move on, so i gave up.

i was told had he not showed up i had a good shot at winning. however, he could then appeal and i'd have to go through the whole process again. i just wanted to get on with my life. i also believe in karma and it will be a bitch for karamikian as i'm not the only person he's done this to.
