This patient has been on my website for a few years. Recently I found the video footage I took of him one year after his procedure.

If the following video link doesn't play on your computer don't worry about it. Just click the .flv player link and then click download. It will load it onto your computer in 4 seconds.

Ah thanks for that link; I couldn't see the vid before. I think photos are always subject to more stringent evaluation because people are always trying to detect and expose some kind of trick with the lighting or whatever. It's also easier to become fixated on some perceived hairline imperfection in a photo, because we forget that 2D does not accurately represent how we see things. Videos paint a better picture of what the results actually look like in the flesh, and compliment patient photos nicely. Great results, and good call with the video (looks even better).

Thank you Youngsuccess, I agree with you completely.

EVERY doctor should post videos of their patients so that the work can be seen from every angle.

Until now the problem has been that the web was too slow and the video editing programs were to time consuming to learn.

Now it's much easier so there really is no reason for all clinics not to post videos.

Photos are good, but nothing tells the whole story like a video. A suppose a hologram would be better, but we're not there yet. And of course meeting the patient in the flesh is still the best.

Here's another video of a stage 6 patient who I performed 5,200 grafts on. He has nice thick caliber hair and wavy salt and pepper hair. Excellent characteristics for a hair transplant.

Click the link and wait about 20 seconds and it will come up.VIDEO: 5,200 grafts- Dr. Feller patient

Another outstanding job. I guess the importance of good hair characteristics also cannot be overstated. Gives hope to those who descend into upper Norwood territory but have thick donor hair and decent density back there.

Patient interviews are fine, but these videos along with Hasson and Wong's are the only ones I've seen that really offer views from different angles and zoom in. If other clinics are documenting results this way then they should post em'!

Alan Parsons is also a good soundtrack- you should play this song to relax patients before the procedure... the mind kind of drifts away ha ha.

Thanks Young.
I believe video has it's place in the future and should be relied upon as part of the decision making process.

The song in the first video is by America, but I thought the one used for the second of the older gentleman is by Alan Parson's Project ("Eye in the Sky"). Either way, good HT music ha ha.

This is a nice result and good use of grafts. I suppose with this patient being a little on the older side that Dr Feller could go a little more aggressive if actually needed but this shows that with good hair characteristics you can achieve a great look with a lower number of grafts. Unfortunately my hair characteristics required me to have a few more grafts in the hairline but if it ends up half as good as this I'll be happy with my second session. My growth is coming through now so I'll be able to see the result from my second pass soon. Dr Feller, does this patient intend to have any more work or is he completely satisfied after one session? No hair greed for this patient?

Dr. Feller,

As I just posted to Joe...

If a pictures is worth a thousand words, than a video is at least worth 100 pictures!

Exellent work!

Took me a second to work that out Falc.. need a coffee Wink

PB, I would be surprised if this patient wanted another session but to be honest "hair greed" gets to us all, so maybe - I do not know this patient so maybe the Doc could help out on it?

PB,
No hair greed for this patient. He's happy and has moved on with his life.

Falc,
There are more videos to come from my clinic. As usual they are shot right in my office with normal lighting and no posing and no professional styling. The way they look in the video is the way they looked when they came in right off the street.

Dr. Feller

Your results for this patient are fantastic. Clearly, the frontal hairline has great density and he has bulk in the central scalp to add to the fullness throughout the scalp from anterior to posterior. Also, the video shows this patient in a natural form - in your office without any "extras" to take away from the main purpose of the video - a great result. What type of video camera are you using for your practice? I will start incorporating this into my practice as well.

Thank you for your comments Dr. Gabel, I have been watching your work for some time and have been very impressed with your results. The 4,000 plus graft case you posted last week was top rate, I'm sure the patient is thrilled.

As for my videos, I take them with a standard mini DV tape camera. I film patients just as they are coming in off the street. We don't do any hair dressing or styling other than to run a comb through the hair for close inspection. I think the public has had a belly full of slick videos from the big chains that don't accurately depict what a transplant looks like on a real person in a real world environment.

Here's a new video I put together recently of a patient of mine on whom I did 3,000 grafts in one sitting. He is booked in for round 2 in a few weeks to lower the hairline and thicken up the crown. I filmed him coming in as he looked coming in right off the street. You can see his hair is wind-swept and how he would look as if he were standing outside in a strong breeze. I didn't even comb his hair in this clip, it's about as honest as an HT presentation can get, which is how they ALL should be.

Keep up the great work and keep sharing your photos, and videos, with us. If you need any help with editing or posting just give the office a call.

Thank you for showing the benefit of video. I was so impressed on how revealing and truthful this video was that I have since purchased my own camera so I too can show the true story behind the surgery. I feel it serves the public quite well and really help them in their research on hair restoration and deciding which surgeon is right for them. Thanks again for always coming up with new-innovative ideas.

Thank you Ricardo. I HIGHLY recommend you add video to your presentation arsenal the viewers love it and it is about as honest a presentation you can possibly make.

No outside agency could possibly focus on the areas that you know to be important. And even if they did somehow know, the price over time would be prohibitive and unnecessary.

Believe it or not I do it all myself with a 7 year old digital video tape camara. Then I import it into adobe premiere on my PC. In about 15 minutes you can have a video produced ready to go on the web.

I only recently realized that the edit time can be reduced even more if you make an effort not to show the patient's face OR put a mask on them to block their face so you don't have to edit around his identity after the video has been shot.

It's actually very satisfying to be able to demonstrate your work in this manner.
