A "forelock" pattern is simply one in which the front-central area of the bald scalp is the main goal to make strong and frame the face. Because the patient's bald area is so large and wide, a gradient has to be created, which blurs the space between the side fringes and the more central forelock area. It is an artistic attempt to re-create a stage of hair loss that many men naturally pass through. Thus it does not draw attention to itself as appearing unnatural. It is used when there is not enough donor hair to fill in the entire top bald area. Mike Beehner, M.D. |
