After a few years of reading, going to many websites and so on, I think I've finally decided against it. There just seem to be too many chances of it not turning out exactly right. Even the shlock outfits claim the procedure will be "virtually" undetectable. If this is such a big issue, I just feel that the probability is that it WOULD be detectable.

Carl 51, Hey..don't quit. Youv'e invested all this effort up till now, why not try to isolate three of the best surgeons out of all your research? Do several consults and make a desion based on further research. It doesn't have to be hit or miss. If you can find 3 surgeons that have nothing bad said about them in these postings...then I think thats progress. Talk to them via consultation and get it down to two choices. The next step? Research some more and choose the best of the best. Iv' been watching this web site for about 2 years and it sure helped me to make my choice. I did DR True and Dorin and I am nothing but happy at 8 weeks out..no bad effects at all. New hair is already growing in and 40% of HT hair stayed in and is 3/4 inch long with no shock loss yet. It can be a great experience for you too. Just do what you can to get it as right for you as you can and then get a highly trained Dr. By the way, it only costs a couple hundred dollars to fly to NYC for the best in the world. It's only my opinion but I think it's true! WW

While I can't exactly say that I agree with your opinion that there is so much at risk that it is no longer prudent to look into, I respect your stance greatly. You have made an informed decision and not one out of haste and emotion. It is not an easy decision and that is why we took the time to devote a page on the Hair Loss Learning Center to it:

Take your time, buddy. The hair restoration industry will be here if/when you are ready. It sometimes goes unsaid all too much that there are some people that are just not good candidates for hair restoration surgery by way of physical characteristics or emotional ones. By the sound of your post I would gather that you have your head on straight and I admire that.

I guess what I am trying to say is this:

Take your time for sure. I remember wakening up one and day and knowing I had three choices. “One” accept the fact that I had lost my hairline. “Two” keeping worrying and try to hide my receding hairline like I had been doing for last 7 years. Or “Three” fix the problem permanently and get a HT.
I decide to get a HT and not with out a trepidation. I read everything I could get my hands on about hair transplantation and came to realize that the Hair Transplantation business is equal to Used Car business. Who can you trust and why is everyone trying to rip people off.
I took all the information and weeded through what seemed to be the most accurate and scientifically correct. Took a leap of faith that my “gut” instinct would help guide me and jump in feet first.
If your gut is saying “no” than, my friend I suggest you follow. I’m two months post HT and I can say that I feel that I made the right decision. However, I won’t truly know the full outcome for a few more months. Good Luck

This is what I call a sucessful case of DO YOU RESEARCH. Which is used all to frequently to excuse the doctors/clinics when a person gets a bad result, butchered or on their fifth surgery . Kudos Carl.

Virtually undetectable: so what, its your head, dont confuse yourself thinking that anyone beside yourself and your significant other really care about what you look like. Even after surgery, people look and probably wonder about what happened to your head but only a few people will ask, for me it was female coworkers who seem most interested and they said GREAT good for you. But dont mislead yourself, find a great doc to make a great hairline after a year or so all grown in, nobody remembers what you looked like or actually really cares (except for those previously noted)

Carl i know how you feel buddy.Just go with what your own heart is telling you.I spent 4 years trying to find the right answer now that i have im so happy.It changed my life.

Nope, not true at all, A state of the art HT is much better than shiny Bald.

Bald is not beautiful, that is a remark specially made for men with no hair and bruised EGO's. Bald sucks !!
