Hello everybody,
What a great site!! I'm one of the new ones here. I live in Denmark, and I think about going with one of the coalition docs for my HT. I've been told I need about 2000-2500 grafts. Given the weak dollar at the moment and my impression of the American and Canadian doctors being more skilled I think about crossing the pond for my HT. Is it dangerous having a hairtransplant when suffering from jetlag?? For how long should one remain "grounded" before flying again after a hair transplant?? Thanks in advance for answers. Welcome Hairdreamer,
Many UK guys travel over to the US and Canada for their HT's so take comfort in that - Many travel the day before their session if not before and then you have chance to sleep and get rested before your session. If you are intending to travel to say HW in Vancouver then i am sure they can advise on the best way to schedule your trip but if going to NY say then the time difference is only 5 hrs so jetlag doesn't really knock you for 6 like say jetlag when travelling to Oz! - That hurts!!! Many UK guys travel back 2 days post op when travelling to the US as then the have had rest post op and feel ready to return home - no place like home If i can be of any help just let me know as i help a great number of guys out regardless of the clinic they go to overseas. I am a paid showcase and "patient coordinator" for Feller Medical, PC in the UK - all opinions expressed are my own.All assesments and treatment plans are made by Dr. Feller alone.Be aware of clinics who use paid non-doctor consultants to assess your hairloss as this is absolutely illegal in the U.S., U.K., and Canada. An option is Dr. Cooley in North Carolina. He pays a couple nights hotel and then you could probably get an extension cheap in Charlotte - $100 / night.
Also, his stitches dissolve naturally so no need for a return. If you get the other kind, a local doctor can remove them for you. 300 'mini' grapfts by Latham's Hair Clinic - 1991 (Removed 50 plugs by Cooley 3/08.) 2750 FU 3/20/08 by Dr. Cooley Current regimen: 1.25 mg Proscar M-W-F Rogaine 5% Foam - once daily AndroGel - once daily Lipitor - 5 mg every other day Weightlifting - 2x per week Jogging - 3x per week |

You are given a small tool to remove Staples - or better still see a local Nurse

Thank you Spex
I've already read several threads here with great interest, so I'm feeling quite "educated" on the subject. For a while I thought about getting my HT done by Alva Armani, but since he only does FUE now, I won't go with him. I have more confidence in FUT thanks to some of the threads here. Anyways, Alva Armani's Danish patient consulant told me stay grounded for a week before flying back to Denmark, so that's why I wanted to hear other peoples opinion on the matter. Do most of the HT clinics in America have an insurance, which will cover you if something goes wrong during the procedure??? In any case I know I need a Danish health insurance being a non-US citizen in America. I'm just not sure about wether that will cover me in case of a cosmetic procedure in America. |
