I have done a hair transplant 6 months ago, and there is NOTHING to see, NOT
A TRACE of any hair sprouting.
Can all transplanted hair fail to live and grow?

You should be in contact with your HT surgeon to let him/her know your situation. At 6 months, you should be seeing some growth.

It is unlikely that all of your hairs will fail to grow unless all of the hairs were transected in donor removal or cutting grafts. Another cause could be they were not properly kept moist in petri dishes prior to being planted.

These are only possible scenarios but you should really be in touch with the doc! Good luck hope you are just a very slow bloomer. Keep us posted!

It is unusual Mark. Who was your Doctor.
I agree with nobuzz, Talk to you Doctor.
It would be nice to see Pics before surgery, directly after & now.

In all of my research I have never seen or heard of it, but I guess anything is possible. Pat would be a good one to chime in on this thread.

I have stated this before. You take the worst of surgeons and doing the lousiest of archaic techniques and those hairs seem to grow. We have all seen the horror story photos.

In saying that, I would have to imagine that a fairly good surgeon would have limited grafts not growing.

Call your doc however and discuss.

marc_Br,

I'm sorry to hear that you haven't experienced any growth yet at 6 months. It IS possible that you are a very slow starter, however, I do believe you have reason to be concerned. There are several factors that could contribute to the hairs "dying" during surgery. Instead of trying to go over all of them here, let's just say that if the grafts aren't handled with care by the physician and techs during the surgery, the follicles could be damaged and ultimately not survive even after transplanted into the scalp. Basically it's like uprooting a plant and then transplanting it in new soil, the plant should be uprooted and treated with care while it's outside of the soil and then careful transplanted into new soil based on certain criteria. Hair follicles, however, are even more fragiile.

Have you talked to your doctor about this concern? If you don't mind my asking...who is your doctor? Is it a coalition doctor found here? http://www.hairlosslearningcenter.org/hair-loss-content...s/our_physicians.asp

The best thing to do at this point is talk to your doctor about your concerns and wait things out. Give it at least a year before you evaluate the surgery as a complete success or failure...however talking to your doctor about your concerns is important.

And PLEASE...keep us posted here as time continues so we can hopefully offer some help.

Falc
