Doctors,

I'm in the information gathering stage so I hope you will understand my numerous posts.

Is it correct that Propecia only works for 2 or 3 years and then begins to lose its effectiveness? If this is true, and shedding then proceeds again, wouldn't the donor as well as the transplanted hair begin falling out? Am I correct in this?

Thanks for your answers/

Nope, donor hair grows forever. Well, it grows according to its genetic programming, which usually is forever.
I'm just now hearing this 2-3 year Propecia effectiveness stuff. I don't think anyone has proven it yet. If they have, I'd like to see the article and sources.

Hogwash! Maybe after 10 years - I really can't say. But I'm coming up on 4 years of using the stuff and it hasn't diminished in the slightest.

Vocor1,

Do you use Propecia? If so, is it working? Thanks.

steven62:
I have many posts on Propecia. Go under "Hair Loss Drugs" and read one of the threads I started.
In a nutshell: I take 1/4 Proscar a day. It is working awesome. My balding crown is no longer balding. I have visible regrowth and increased density on my crown.
I'm a HUGE proponent of Propecia. Other people don't get as good effects as I have enjoyed, though.
Still, I can speak for myself. Many people on this forum share my high regard for Propecia and will recommend it as a first and easy step to controlling and possibly reversing hairloss.
Hope this helps.

Arfy - from your posts I got an impression that Propecia does not stop to work, PRGuy says that there is a 10 year life - who's right? Any sources on any of the sides? Thanks. I do agree with PRGuy, that there will be something better by then.

The latest studies show that Proscar has about a ten year life. From my underdstanding it's not a life time. Hope that helps.

Ten years is a lot better than three!
Hrrm, maybe Avodart will finally be tested by then, or a new drug will be out.
One thing you gotta love about capitalism and a market economy is the following inescapable fact: A demand will ALWAYS create a supply.
Sure, it may take time, but they won't stop researching it. There is just too damn much money to be made.
Look at Avacor aka 2% minoxidil. Men shelled out millions on a scam. How much do you think they'll shell out on something that actually works well, as claimed, and is widely available?
That time of innovation will propel some pharmaceutical company past all the others in sales -- easily, I might add.

why is there no successive medical treatment yet developed for hairloss. I don't care, what others say, but a cure for hairloss, is probably more important, and definitely more profitable than developing a cure for AIDS. Why not take all those scientists working on cure for AIDS, and have them put in some hours on bringing NW7 back to NW2?
