Patience!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Patience is the toughest part of the HT procedure but one of the most important ones.

Trust me i truly know how tough the waiting game is - I have been there many, many times before!! Looking constantly in the mirror, inspecting it every opportunity, driving along staring in the rear view mirror(how i never crashed i don't know) Wondering why at exactly 3/4 months there is still no growth!! Frustrated why the redness hasn't clamed down when forum member X was back to work at 10 days with no worries.

The trick here is to understand that everyone is different in terms of recovery times, growth times, expectations, realisation period etc.

Patience is an essential part of the HT journey and i think it needs more exposure - When embarking down the HT road - "Be Patient!!!"

Just because "Joe Bloggs" had great growth at month 3/4 doesn't necessarily mean you are going to - So being aware of this prior to your HT.
The growth will come in its own time and you will have your realisation in your own time. - Be patient!! Could be 6 could be 10 months.

It's a fact 3/4 months post HT is the toughest time in the entire process but you are only prolonging the agony by expecting to wake up one day around month 3/4 and see it all taking place. It doesn't happen like this!!! It is soooooooooooo slow and gradual that you actually do not see it happen. You will only see the transformation when you compare your pictures along side each other at monthly intervals. A great example was Ian who i spoke with at month 9 post op and he said "well i haven't really seen much difference since month 4" - I showed him his pictures and well you do the maths.Wink

Be patient - I know its tough, really tough!!! By inspecting your hair though 24/7 its actually NOT going to make things happen any quicker - In fact it will make things happen slower - "A watch kettle never boils"

Be prepared post op to really make a conscious effort to put it all on the back burner for 6 months as a bench mark as other wise you will only drive yourself MAD! - Trust me - i speak from personal experience!!

Grow well all of you!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best regards

Spex,

Great post, all virgin newbies should pay attention.

I booked my date in January so that I may be seeing some progress by June.

Time will pass, do what you can take your mind off of it, more exercise or go to the movies more often (love those dimmed lights, right! Cool)

Stay consistent with your scalp care regimen, diet.

Nice info. I like your statement "It is soooooooooooo slow and gradual that you actually do not see it happen". Isn't that the truth! Smile

Wow Spex....what an AMAZING post that speaks right to my heart right now. You know...no matter how many times one goes through this or how knowledgeable one is...there is still that level of frustration wanting growth to occur right away. I still struggle with that feeling...wondering why I'm just about to hit month 3 and don't see any new growth. I feel it, but don't see it. I just compared my 2 month and 3 month pics and see no difference and let out a *sigh*. Now thankfully I am knowledgable enough now to understand that this is and can be very normal...BUT, it doesn't solve the fact that I want to see the changes. Though your post is mostly beneficial for newbies, Your post was EXACTLY what I needed to read as well!!!!

Thanks Spex! Patience is the key to many quandaries of life Wink

Excellent post. Another key thing I think about is the timing of the next HT. I like the plan of playing the waiting game thru winter and expecting new growth with spring--kind of follow the path of mother nature. Smile

Hi there,

Who did your surgery - was it your first?

4 months is VERY early days so try not worry to much. Even at 6 months its still relatively early days and FAR too soon to assess the final outcome of your HT which can take 18 months to reach full grown in mature look.

Growth comes in in waves and spurts so just waiting now is all you can do.

At 4 months you need to just dig deep and continue to be patient and understand that its NOW only the VERY start of the growth procvess for many people and that you have 12-14+ more months ahead till the FINAL result.

Grow well!!

Spex,

No matter when originally posted this is as important today as it was a couple of years back.
How many times do we get patients woried betweenn the 4-8 month mark but a few months down the line everything turns out fine.
This point cannot be over emphasised.

Good post.

thanks for the replys, i had 1200 grafts by dr rogers in stratford UK if im honest so far im pleased............ i was not bald to start just thin i went to see him and he said 1000 grafts should do it but i was thinking more like 2000?? but i whent with advice seeing as hes suppost to be the expert. im prob back now to almost like my pre op hair was like. if at month 7 or 8 i continue to get good growth then ill be over moon. if not then i will moan like hell. because it cost me 3500 for 1200grafts!! i feel ripped off as if new about this site or going to the usa for example i would have but then you live and learn!!!!

all in all he was a bloody nice guy and things have been going well no problems so far? my scar is fantastic and you cant notice it at all at grade 3 on the clippers and at grade 2 all you can see is a pink pencil thin line! no hair gap or anything so for that im greatfull at least. if after 8 months my hair thickness has improved i will be happy. apart from paying 3500 quid!!!

DNT DO HT IN THE UK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im already saving up for a one pass as i know im gunna need 1 in the US or Thailand or canada

I'm not sure where this comment came from because it's out of place on this thread. However, you may or may not be aware, but Coalition members Dr. Bessam and Nilofer Farjo are doing excellent work out of the UK. You can find dozens of examples of their work in this community.

Best wishes,

Bill (Falc)
