Harry_singh,

Welcome to the forums,

I disagree with your physician...you are not too young for finasteride at 24 years old. In fact, finasteride (in form of Propecia or Proscar - if you want to save money use 1/4 proscar pill daily) is your best bet to stop or slow down your hairloss. I'd strongly consider seeing another doctor OR you can consult with a Hair transplant doctor here: http://www.hairlosslearningcenter.org/hair-loss-content...s/our_physicians.asp

Note: I'm not recommending that you even think about considering a transplant if you just started losing your hair...but most HT docs will help you plan for the long term for hair solutions. A transplant might be a viable solution in the late future, but most/all can provide prescriptions to the medication you need.

If the drugs do work for you and either help to retain hair or you get some growth, yes you will have to stay on forever or there is the fear of losing the gains you made.

No they do not effect genetics. I think this is the question you are asking. They may help to limit your hairloss but if you are genetically predisposed to a certain hair pattern that is where you are headed. Possibly it may limit this or slow it down considerably. That is why you would have to continue use if it works.

Find a new doctor. Finasteride should be in baby formula for boys. They can put it in blue bottles and they can put the girl formula in pink bottles so everybody can tell the difference.

Yes, if you get on it you'll have to stay on it or the hair you keep (or possibly regrow) will fall out after you stop taking it. Of course over time the drug may lose effectiveness and you'll suffer hair loss anyway but I am willing to take that chance as are most guys

You can also use Rogaine but it's messy. I heard the foam is an improvement though. Again, once you start you have to stay on it.

Did you ask your Doctor why he (she) thought it may not be a good idea for you to be taking it ???

This medication does affect a number of hormones... perhaps starting younger, thus taking it longer (over the course of your life) has unknown issues at this time. From what I have found on line it seems to be quite safe... however, numerous medications have been pulled from the self after being available for years.

Do your homework... then make your choice. If you ask enough Doctors, eventually you will find a Doc willing to prescribe most anything.

Here's an article for you to look over....

Thanks for the information.
I did ask my Doctor, she said i should take vitamin B12 Before i start Finasteride.
I have been eating Vitamin B12 for last 3 months.
I think i should see another Doctor who can prescribe me Finasteride.
