Last week I had my second procedure and am experiencing some problems that I did not encounter the first time around.

First, 7 days post op, my eyes are still badly swollen. Anyone else have this problem and is there anything that I can do to ease the swelling. Ice does not help.

This time around, my scalp is a tight as a drum and most uncomfortable. Anything I can do here to ease the discomfort. The donor site does not hurt too bad, but this taught/tightness is driving me crazy. How long before it begins to subside a little.

Lastly, how long do most people wait until they begin using the minxo again. Some people say 5 days, others say wait until 14 days.

Thanks

For the Rogaine, my Doc said wait til the 10 days post op after the stitches are out.

My second surgery (aug 7) seems tighter than my first too, and I have a bit of swelling on the side. This has peaked and is starting to subside on aug 12.

I had no swelling at all the first time.

The things my doc gave me to reduce and prevent swelling were:

Bromaline tablets for a week prior
Vitamin C a week prior and continuing
Prednezone(sp?) for 3 days post
A gym-type headband to wear for 4 days post op (he said it wasn't necessary on this second one cause most work was in the back of the head).
Graft-Cyte to promote healing.
And, if the swelling got bad he gave me 3 diuretic (sp?) tablets which would release moisture from your whole body - but only if needed (I haven't taken yet).

Did you speak tothe doctor? what did he say?
was yours a corrective procedure? who was the doctor? any history of infections/reactions or anything ?

Your information will be useful to a lot of us who is still planning for a session..

PD,

Thanks for your reply. I did call the doctor, and he said to be patient for a few days. He was right. Since my post, the swelling has all but disappeared (well still a little puffy under the eyes, but that is resolving itself). The scalp is still tight, but I know from my first transplant that this will take a month or two to resolve. No real discomfort in the stitches. I'm feeling so much better. The stitches come out this Friday. The small scabs are a bit itchy, but the grafcyte/biotin spray helps alot. They should be dropping off in mass over the next few days.

I guess because this is my second procedure, the scalp would be much tighter this time around. My only concern now is that I did experience some loss of hair from my first transplant, but I am assured that these will grow back along with the new grafts in the coming months.

As to any potential shock loss from original non transplanted hair that may not grow back, that will show up in a month or two. This is always a concern. I did have a significant amount of shock loss from my first procedure which, in retrospect, did diminish the results in terms of density. Still, no regrets whatsoever. If I can figure out how to attach some pics, I will.

Ren
