Hey jfo,

what do you mean you can feel your scar?

Do you mean you can there is like a lumpy or thick scar?

If you do that means you have a pretty big scar. Have a look at all the patients pictures on this forum, their scar is like a thin as a pencil line and can be barely detected.

I think a good scar is only like a red pencil line, which does not look thick or as if its like a lump.

So if you can feel you scar with your fingers then maybe its a pretty bad scar.

Sometimes scars do what is called "ridging" where you feel a bump along the incision line where things have been sutured. Not ideal but it does happen and sometimes it is out of the control of even the best surgeons. I guess it is also possible that the scar is somewhat keloid or developing scar tissue around the incision site. Neither are what we aim for but they do happen.

jfo,

NervousNelly gave you a great explanation. It is not optimal but can occur regardless of the skill of the surgeon.

In fact, I have a bit of ridging in the donor scar myself on the left side of my head. It is minimal and cannot be seen but only felt.
