Hi all. I have been lurking here for a couple of months . Finally decided to register up & join in on the fun Smile Iam 33 years old as of Jan 20th. I included a few pics of my situation . I have some pretty basic questions that I am looking for opinions on . I know every situation is different . I am going to be getting serious in finding the right Dr. for my situation. I also know there are many variables when finally making the jump. basically what i want opinions on is ...how many hairs/ grafts do you think I would need to get me rolling ? My forehead is bothersome , as well as wanting more density through-out he top of my head . All iam looking for is opinions on this. Answer these questions as if that was your head .

Also... Just wanted to add this site is great ! I always catch those MHR info-mercials and thought that was the ticket . Let me just say glad I found this site !

I think a megasession of 3 to 4000 FUs would do wonders on you. You seem to have plenty of donor hair, and still some on the top. I'd say you're an ideal candidate for an HT. Have you tried Finasteride to thicken your crown?

3045 FUs with Dr Victor Hasson on 8 June 2004
1836 FUs with Dr Jeffrey Epstein on 2 March 2006
Regimen: 1.25mg Proscar every other day

Yeah, I'd say closer to 4000. You'll need almost 3000 just to cover the front half. Then more to add density to the back half.

I have never tried any chemicals or meds for my hair loss. There are just too many out there and I read so much hype on everything and believe non of it . I also do not want to deal with any major side effects as a result of meds. I take anti -anxiety meds and I dont want any side effects of that nature . The best medicine to date for me is my hat Smile Iam tired of having to match ball caps to certain clothing. All in all its taking quite the toll on my everyday life . I never thought it would bother me , but it does. Here is one more pic of my right side .

thanks for the info.. did I mention that this place rocks ?!?!

3147 ish) grafts Dr. Konior

Burt1973,

Welcome to our forum. And I'd agree that the people on this forum do indeed "rock".

I know it can be tough sorting out the real deal treatments from all the hype. But Propecia is in truth the closest thing to a miracle pill for stopping hair loss as there is. I really suggest you as about it when you do your consultation.

I'd give the Propecia several months to work for you before then doing hair transplant surgery. This will also serve to strengthen your existing hair on top so that any potential shock fall out will be minimalized.

I'd agree that you will probally need a good 4,000 or more follicular unit grafts to restore a relatively full look.

Please keep us all posted.

Best wishes, Pat

Burt1973,

Glad to hear you've finally joined in! Welcome to the site.

I would probably mirror the earlier posts saying 3000-4000 would give you a pretty nice overall look. Take a look at some of our Photo Album pic's on the site..........Hairworthy, if I remember correctly, had 3000 mostly on the front and top and looks to have had fantastic results. Review the others, everyone has a different pattern of loss.....hopefully you can find one similar to yours which may provide insight to you in your decision.

I would also encourage you to consider propecia. I'm not taking it now due to some of the same reservations you mentioned in your post, but, I have re-evaluated my position and am strongly considering it.

Good luck and keep us informed!
