Following my prior posts about my consultation with Dr Griffin, I think I've decided to go forward with surgery. Although to be honest I am still 50:50 - same old questions; will the hair look natural, will the scar show, what happens 3-4 years down the line when I lose more hair etc etc.

Question - for those of you that have had a transplant, if you could go back and NOT do it, would you? Any regrets??

Perhaps a silly question, but thoughts appreciated! Thanks

not sure, still waiting for the results, I'm at the 4th month. I don't like how the donar scar is healing, very slow, still red, and still hairless.

I am with you B, We came into this as the sesion sizes were changing. Crazy how things have changed in just the last 6 months. I have only one regret, I didnt find this dang web site 5-6 years ago, I could have been on propecia. I am extatic about my results at 4 and a half months post op and will probally go back for one more and get as much as I can done and I think I will be set. It is a very emotionally thing to go through this. The "unknown" If you have done your research met with former patients, talked with the doc, you worries should subdue, or you should go to a different doc. The people who have regreted doing hts it seems are the ones who had bad results, us who have had great results feel enlightened. Like i got my youth back, I feel like the people you see in the Bosley commercials, except for real, lol.

Personally, I'm glad I had surgery, and I know a number of people on this forum are extremely happy they went through with it. I don't know much about your situation, but make sure you do NOT go through with it unless you are 100% certain. You really don't want to go into it 50/50...that's my honest opinion. Talk to some reputable docs, get consults, talk to satisfied and dissatisfied patients....do your homework, and then make a decision when you know for sure what you want to do. I suppose saying 100% isn't quite fair, but make sure that you are at least 90%, with only 10% being the fear of the unknown of this being your first surgery. That's my advice. Feel free to poke around my pictures site underneath my name on the left hand side. I've had two surgeries.

Falc makes some good points. Some nervousness is natural, but 50/50? That'a little too much doubt. I personally am happy and would to it again.

Guys thanks for the messages. I think you are right, I stil have too much doubt in my mind. I have decided to give it another 6-12 months before making a decision re surgery.

One last question! I was presribed Minoxidil +RA to use on a daily basis (in addition to propecia which i've already been using for 9 months). Is Minoxidil 5% + RA used daily, better than Minoxidil used twice a day?? Thanks

My first transplant-a massive mistake-my second transplant-great. In fact at 3 months and 1 week I can feel my donor site that I have not felt from the first transplant in over twenty years. If you have doubts at 50/50 I agree with Gorpy, don't do it. Things will only get better. I went to an open house and had three consultations on the second HT. I was ready and this web site is terrific at helping you compare notes with others. Good luck.
