Hey guys.....
Is it true that the one hair grafts grow faster than the two and three hair grafts on ones scalp?.... Anyone know the answer to it, or is post op growth on ones scalp totally random? NWD 6 2802 Grafts Dr. jeffrey Epstein 5/1/07 980 ones 1400 twos 422 threes = 5046 total hairs daily regimen...5% rogaine twice a day propecia EOD Nizoral 1% daily oct 15th 08 4000 + graft session booked with Dr. Hasson (counting the days!) |

There have been rumors that seem to prove true in some that growth in the crown takes longer than the front. One might be able to argue that since the majority of the larger grafts are put toward the back that what you are saying is accurate. But this doesn't account for the 3 and 4 haired grafts placed in the frontal third that seem to grow equally as fast as the single grafts. From my observations, I'd say it's pretty random. Yea, they all pretty much grow at different rates, but I've noticed that one side seem to grow a bit more evenly than others, while the other side grows closer to the native hair. I also have one 2 hair graft that never shed, and has not seem to grow longer in length either. Really weird.

I think that has to do with how far the hair follicles were into the hair growth cycle. That's why the start growing at different rates. It's actually a GOOD thing because if all hair went into the telogen phase at the same time, we'd all be completely bald for a period of time. Grafts tend to grow in a random and staggered fashion. This does not appear to be related to size. Single hair grafts are more fragile than multiples so, if anything, the singles might take longer to come in. But as far as I know, the size of the graft does not have a clear-cut relationship to the growth timetable.

I have noticed that the grafts seem to be growing fastest in the areas where my hair loss was recent, and in places that have been bald for 10 years it is coming in much slower..... I often get the remark that the tranplants seem to grow faster than the original hairs close to the transplants.
Probably this can be explained that transplants are strong, dht resistant hairs and grow at a normal rate. Original hairs already affected by dht on the other hand tend to grow slower and produce thinner hair. Consultant-co owner Prohairclinic (FUE only) in Belgium, Dr. De Reys. |
