Is it best to get a haircut before the surgery, being that, I assume, it will be several weeks before one can get a haircut AFTER surgery.

I'm guessing that a haircut before surgery will make it easier for post-op cleansing, but then again, would a short cut make the scar more noticible?

Have any of your surgeons recommended a clean cut prior to your procedure,??Jerry

For scar coverage, you'll want to leave it at least 1/2", more likely 1". I cut mine to 1/2" before my last HT and it covered the scar no problem. However, everyone's hair is different. Some have hair that seems to "cling" to the scalp more which tends to cover better. Some have ultra straight, coarse hair which seems to stand out more and tends not to cover the scar as good.

If you're having the HT around existing hair and they're not shaving your head for the surgery then I supposed the hair being a little shorter "might" help with cleaning. It's really not a big issue either way. I cut my own hair so I wasn't concerned about the haircut after HT.
