After 15 years of losing my hair, I had 2000 grafts done on my crown on MOnday. Although most people say to start forward and move back, I have been upset about my crown since I was a teenager. Now at 35, it was time to have it done. I may have been overzealous in choosing MHR in IL but I was unaware of other options. As ususal, I found this awesome site AFTER the surgery. Whats done is done as they say. My questions are when can I start wearing a baseball cap? A regular cap, not a bandana. I dont want to harm the grafts, but since I can wear a cap at work, and have done so for years, it could be undetected by my ballbusting co-workers. Also, I am an avid softball player, and want to know when it is safe to resume playing?

My doc said to be extra careful the first five days, wear seran wrap while sleeping AND while wearing a cap.

The next five days are critical as well, but then you can leave behind the seran wrap and start gently washing your hair.

After 10 days your "out of the woods"as far as the grafts , but I'd wait at least a month before playing softball, even if then. You'll stretch that donor scar.

I an avid golfer am taking a month off. Too much twisting with the swing. I think the same would apply with softball. Not worth the risk. I have read where people play golf a week into surgery but Im not going to chance it.
You could maybe shorten up your swing and try to go opposite field for a less violent swing?
Just tell your team you jacked up your shoulder?

hounddog,

Welcome to our forum.

I agree with Dewayne regarding playing softball. Even at one month however, my concern is that there is a lot of heavy twisting in softball when batting. It is important for the first three months not to do any exercises that put any real strain on the area. After one month, simply use common sense and you will be ok Smile

Best wishes,

Falc
