It is a game of mine to sometimes guess that doc that did the work and I am almost certain I know the surgeon you saw. I would have to think that you are just a slow grower and likely will start to see a lot more at the 8 month mark. I can understand you concern though. Hopefully your doc will stand by their work should their be any yield concerns.

I also like to play that game. I have a feeling i know who it is as well and if it is who i think it is, kevkristy you'll will be just fine. Like nervousnelly says wait till 7-8 month mark and i bet you'll happy.

Thanks to all for comments... I'll tell you, I'm not expert here. So the comments on density I'll pass. Althouth the doctor is one of the top docs on this site, probably top 3 in terms of hairline artistry, frontal area. Or so says the public opinion.

He claims the 2400 grafts were "packed" in at a fairly small coverage area (we went conservative, didn't lower hairline at all and only frontal third).

I don't want to name the doc because I feel he'll back up work 100%, and I feel it will only cause unwarranted bad exposure for him at this point. Obviously if it doesn't grow in and he doesn't back it up to my liking, then I'll release name, only to help others.

I feel that is only fair.

Glad you are feeling a little better - like mentioned previously 6 months for some is still early whilst others are well on their way - we all grow differently.

You appear to have not been buzzed down in the recipient area for the op - were you? Do you think you have experienced any shock loss ? - At the 3 months stage did your hair appear the same pre op or was it thinner? - Do you have any pre op pics?

If a top Doc - he will stand by you and his results so i wouldn't worry - they always do.

Good point.. I did no get shaved. And I feel I had some decent shock loss. At about 2 months I had less than pre op. The 6 day is straight out of shower.

Does shock loss come back? Or is it a case of losing x amount from shock loss and gaining x amount from transplant. And then all being wash?

Hi mate - Yes shock generally returns if the hair was strong enough. If it doesn't then it was so weak it was on its last legs anyway. I think this might be half the problem here for you - shockloss can take several months to return - so it looks like a combo of shockloss and slow growth could have put you in this doldrums situ - The next 4/5 months will reveal the truth i am sure -

grow well mate and the best advice i can give you is remove ALL mirrors from your house , car , work etc - A watch kettle never boils - grow well amigo!

Shockloss

Shockloss is something that can be experienced when transplanting into existing hair although highly unpredictable. Shockloss occurs when the native hair is weak and isn't strong enough to resist the trauma thats going on around it. More often than not the hair that has gone into shock will grow back but after 3/4 months - after the resting phase
Hair that goes into shock and doesn't return is hair that was inevitably on its way out anyway and wasn't strong enough to return.Increased trauma to a localised area will increase thechances of shockloss - Shockloss is unpredictable and there is no hard and fast rule to avoiding it - especially if you are transplanting into existing hair.

There are risk factors that either heighten or lessen someone's risk. Diffuse thinners seem more prone to shockloss than receders because the hair in a diffuse area is often less stable than that of a receder. Very often, a lot of the hair in a diffuse area is "on its last legs" and in the latter stages of the miniaturization process.


Just thought i would throw this in the mix for you. - This is why shaving down pre op is a beneficial part against avoiding shock as much as possible. - Did you specifically not want to be shaved down? Also are you on meds ie Propecia?

Yes Spex, shaving down was not preferred. I WAS able to mask a bit pre op.

I did minox foam for first 2 months. Continue on propecia to this day w vitamins.
