I was wondering do most hair transplant doctors ask you to use minoxidil a week before the transplant and a few weeks after and then stop(unless you are a long term user, you don't stop)?

Dr Beehner does this and I was wondering if other doctors do this as well?

My doctor had me use rogaine for a month after surgery to help the hair from shedding and to help the recovery time. I don't think it really did much though as I still shed quite a bit of hair. Just now starting to get some back and just starting to see a few new hairs as well. It's been almost 4 months now.

Just to clarify. Most surgeons suggest you stop using Rogaine about a week before surgery as Rogaine stimulates additional blood flow, which is unwelcome during surgery.

You should also avoid aspirin and alcohol right prior to surgery for the same reasons.

Thanks Pat.

It has been 6 and a half months since my hair transplant and I was just going by my faulty memory. Maybe it wasn't before and only after.

I was just interested about the temporary use of rogaine with hair transplants. Did your doctor do this Pat? And do most doctors do this?
