I am a young African American female that started showing signs of hairloss at the age of 25. I believe it was due to a bad chemical burn due to a bad application of a relaxer from a beautician. I have seen one dermatologist that informed me that my hairloss could not be the result of a chemical burn. However, this is the only problem I have had with my hair. He also performed different tests as well as a byopsy. He stated that all tests came back negative, however, I do have scar tissue and the hair will never grow back. He never told me what my diagnosis was, just that, "whatever it was, it has stopped now." My question is, since I have scar tissue in the area of hairloss, could I still be considered a possible candidate for hair transplantation.

I had a HT in August from Joe Greco in Clearwater, FL. He has done HT surgeries on burn victims and even showed me a very moving video that was put together of a young girl who was badly burned in a car fire that he later did transplant work on. There are pictures of her on his web site. www.grecohairsurgery.com. You should check out other docs too but he might be a good person to talk to.
