I have read a few articles that suggest that donor area dominance is not always the case and, after time, hair can conform to the growth rate of the recipient site. I would appreciate if any doctors or others could address that from their own experience. Thanks.

eyebrow,

I too would be interested in doctor's input on this. Thanks for posting it.

ng2gb,

Donor dominance simply means hair will retain their characteristics from the donor site. This is why hair transplantation works in the first place.

If transplanted hair was recipient dominant, DHT would kill the follicles and hair transplantation wouldn't be a viable solution.

Falc,

have you ever seen any reports that the donor hair takes on the characteristics of the recipient area as eyebrows suggests? That would suck...

eyebrows,

could you post the articles here since you so effortlessy, smoothly and subtly with one foul swoop chopped my balls off held them before me and forever made me lose hope of achieving a Don King do?...

I thought you had a full head of hair and just wanted Collin Farell eyebrow transplants? what gives? have you seen Farells sister? Ooh, La, la...very nice.

ng2gb,

The only case I have ever heard of this is for body hair transplants. But I have no evidence of this being true and logically can't see how it's possible. If donor dominance exists for scalp hair transplants, I don't see any reason how body hair could take on the characteristics of scalp hair when moved.

I hope to hear a physician's response on this thread.

Falc

I hadn't thought about the donor hair growth limitations in body to scalp hair transplants (and I know they do the reverse, too!) but that is an interesting question...

My personal interest is in whether the growth rate of scalp hair transplanted to the eyebrow will ever become more like the recipient site.

Falc, thanks for your clout in soliciting responses from docs!

One more thing.. I didn't meant to alarm anyone! This isn't about DHT! It concerns the genetic programming that controls the rate of hair growth on different parts of the body.
