Hi Every one
I just had a 4000 Grafts session done, mind you I still have a lot of hair left 35 hairs per sq cen, and i also have a very dense donor area.. and I had a few questions... if i touch my scalp with the palm of my hands gently I can feel the grafts that were transplanted however I feel nothing when i feel the crown of my head... its like there was nothing transplanted there. Is this simple because there was no hair transplanted there? or is it that they have fallen out already hence why i cant feel them? it seems weird because i can feel it on other places on my head bu not on the crown......is this normal? The doctors answer was that "We don't usually cover the back of the crown when we do transplants on young guys like yourself as we have to allow for further loss of hair. The anterior crown was well covered and once it grows in the posterior crown will not be visible" 2)is it normal that I have some of the grafts fat sticking out of my head? 3) should i be playing soccer two weeks after surgery? The instructions say you can resume activities after 10 days but heading the ball i dont know? 4) how long should a 4000 graft surgery (strip) take? is 8 hours a reasonable time frame? thanks everyone I really appreciate your advice |

who was your dr...? Usually they do not address the crown on the first procedure, depending on how much loss you have had. Everything sounds normal to me. After one month I resumed amateur boxing. They do say if you feel discomfort or too much tightness around the scalp to slow down on the sports till its over. NWD 6 2802 Grafts Dr. jeffrey Epstein 5/1/07 980 ones 1400 twos 422 threes = 5046 total hairs daily regimen...5% rogaine twice a day propecia EOD Nizoral 1% daily oct 15th 08 4000 + graft session booked with Dr. Hasson (counting the days!) |

Thanks for the reply Wanthairs
well I had a diffused pattern... the only part that was more visible in terms of hair loss was my crown.... in essence i did the procedure as preemtive surgery so my thinning would never become too visible... Given the fact that the only significantly visible part was my crown I was sure they would address it at least with a very limited number of grafts... (like 100 to 200) I asked the same question to the doctor performing the surgery at the time he was making the incision and he told me that because we were doing a 4000 strip we will have enough to cover the whole thinning spot!! only for me too see it was never done. Someone else told me it's logical to assume that some grafts should have been placed their as well given the info above. Thanks |

rightoussoul,
I had to shake my head when I read your post. It doesn't sound like your crown was addressed by your ht doctor even though that was your main concern. The doctor and the patient are suppose to come up with a game plan before surgery and you should have every right to trust that plan will be carried out. The fact that your doctor told you that he was covering the crown with incisions during surgery and you find out that they did not is way out of line. The should have made clear that they had no intention of addressing the crown prior to you going "under the knife". I'm employed as the lead medical tech and surgical manager for the Shapiro Medical Group. Feel free to ask me any questions. |
