Hey, this is the first time i did a search on hairtransplants and i found this site so i thought i'd do a posting on here and get some feed back.

I'm 22 years old. I've had my hair thin on the middle of my head between the crown and my front hair line. It thinned when I was very young, around 10 years old. It didn't bother me too much then because it's not to noticible. But now that I'm older and I'm also in the entertainment industry and looks matter. I can't gel my hair because all you see is skin. but if i don't gel my hair it looks fine and you can't really tell except in some types of light, even though i have a pretty short haircut.

I went to bosley's for a reccomendation because they advertise on tv and it's the only place i knew of. They said i needed around 400 to 500 micrografts. But they were very arrogant and very rude and i would probably never go there.

I live in Toronto and i know that people on this site said if you need under 1000 grafts forget it but it's really important that i be able to gel my hair and have different types of hair styles.

My hair is not thinning more and hasn't thinned since then but I don't know why it thinned when i was so young. I've only tried one thing to try to correct this which is TRIAXON the stuff advertised on the shopping channel. I've taken it for 2 years with no results.

Who is the best surgeon in the Toronto area who could do that small of a surgery? I read on this site that DR JONES is good. And also SEAGER but he does mostly big surgeries and probably not too many small surgeries.

Is there anything else other than transplants that could work for me and has worked for other people. I just read today about this thing called the HAIRMAX LASER COMB is that just a bunch of crap too? it was in time magazine and on the 'view'.

PRGuy, I have recently been seriously considering HT. I am 27 and I have thinning hair in the frontal portion of my scalp that is getting very old (tired of trying to hide it with hours spent in front of the mirror). I have been using Propecia since 23 years old. I just made an appointment with Bosley. I noticed your comment about them and was wondering why I should cancel this appointment and who should I see instead? I live in Michigan. Thanks for any advice in advance.

cureus,

Cancel your appointment with Bosley ASAP and then contact one or more of the recommended doctors on this site. Do not let the doctor's location limit your choices. And by all means, read every post you can for at least a month before you have a HT. You'll learn a ton.

cureos,
don't buy into the Nelson twins video. Big Grin. i first started with researching HT's by seeing those infomercials from MHR and Bosley. i actually talked to an MHR consultant over the phone. i am glad i found this website!!!! there are doctors here that are a hell of a lot better that anyone from bosley and MHR.

to prove my point, just keep reading these posts. read previous posts too. you'll find nothing but complaints about the MHR and Bosley folks. also none of their docs will dare post here because the people here are armed with too much info. (and photos) against them.

Run from MHR and Bosley. "Stay ahead of the hair mills". Please do not make the life altering and possibly destroying decision to go to a Big Name Hair Mill or chop shop. Search around and talk to some top docs.
You might get an okay/acceptible HT from those Hair Mills, but you mean less than nothing to them. You are a paycheck and damn your satisfaction (they'll say, "You knew the risks!").
I can't be more emphatic when I say CANCEL your session and cease contact with the hair mills. Anyone you choose here is better than them.
If it comes to your future happiness or a few dollars, it is an easy choice, the hair mills want the dollars. Your happiness means nothing to them nor do your referrals. They'll always be able to trap another fly with their web of deceit, false promises, and expectations just waiting to be shattered.

Ditto what they said. CANCEL that appointment. Not only do they have a reputation of being butchers, they charge more than the best doctors. They have a ton of lawsuits against them. If you're gonna do it, do it right. Chances are you'll have to go out of town for it. Remember, this is permanent so don't take chances.

I've never heard of any "tests" for male pattern balding. What tests are you referring to?

Thanks,

Paul

Well, the pictures are off and I am awaiting the answers. I am feeling quite a bit anxious. I've actualy thought about doing this for quite a few years, but I keep getting cold feet everytime I start to get serious about following through. However, this time I am determined to follow thru =)

PRguy, how long does it usually take for the signs of surgery to disappear? The only part I am concerned about is going to work. I work in an enviroment where hats aren't really allowed. Therefore, I am trying to work out a plan to hide the work, but at the same time not disrupt my career.

PRguy, so you are telling me that over a period of approximately 10 days all signs of the surgery were unoticeable? Of course, excpet for the scar on the back of your head.

This brings me to my next question. In my research, I haven't come across too many pictures of the scarring in the back of the head. Can anyone describe me the phases of this scar and how much of it actually goes away?
