Hey everyone,

I am 19 turning 20 and i am experiencing hair loss at the temple areas and a small bit at the front - hair loss very similar to that of my dad. I would like to know what your advice is on the steps i should take to restoring my old hairline and keeping it.

Thanks so much,

Teen, welcome to the forum!
Restoring your hairline at your age via haitransplant surgery is usually not recommended. The reason being it is impossible to determine your future hairloss.

So if you get a HT now, then loose more native hair, your hair might end up looking patchy requiring your next HT in possibly a couple of years within the first one.
Eventually, You will run out of donor hair at an early age.

Some forum members here will advise you to start taking Propecia to help stop the hairloss & possibly regrow some hair. It is most effective in men of your age.
However, I urge you to research Propecia & the possible side effects you may experience.

Rogaine works to some degree for some people, however it gives you bad hair days because you can't avoid getting it in your hair.
Alot of us have found it is more trouble than it is worth.

Post some photos of your hairloss so that we can give you a better assessment of your situation.

Research is Key!

teenhairloss,

Welcome to our community.

We can all sympathize with you here on this forum. We all were at that point once where we just started to lose our hair, and it can be hard to bear.

However, folica has given you some excellent advice.

At your age, I would not consider hair transplantation right now.

Considering reading the following threads I've posted with some information that will fit you:

What should I consider when researching hair transplantation?

I hope this helps,
