I see on this site alot of people recommend nizoral, I just wanted to know Why? I see it is a dandruff shampoo, but is there something else in it to help with hair loss?
I appreciate any answers, Thanks.

It apparently has some DHT removing properties as well as reduce inflamation from dandruff. Not sure it will regrow anything just keeps the scalp a little healthier.

I will echoe what NoBuzz had to say. It is a good shampoo that should be considered as part of your regimine.

I'll add this to what people have said...don't overuse it if you end up getting it. It can dry out your hair and scalp if used excessively which generally isn't good. I used it for awhile but stopped using it because it gave my hair the appearance of less density and it was more dry and brittle. I used it about 3-4 times a week. Keep in mind, of course, that everyone reacts differently...so you may have better luck.

Yes,

Most use about 2-3 times a week. It does dry out your hair a bit.. There are some good studies on Nizoral which you can find on this site if you search as well as Google..

Yes- I believe Nizoral, which contains the active ingredient ketoconazole, will help keep your scalp healthier and MAY help you fight DHT. It's a shampoo which has anti-fungal qualities which are very important in fighting MPB. I used to alternate it daily with Nioxin, now use it a couple times a week.

Plus, Nizoral (the 2%) was used during the initial finasteride studies. If you're using finasteride, it is recommended that Nizoral is also used.

Jsw1000,

The above forum members have given you some outstanding advice.

I just wrote a post on our Q & A blog on the topic of "Can Dandruff cause hair loss?" today and I think the above replies are better.

Which reminds me, I should buy some Nizoral.

Heres something that might help with the dryness of your hair when using Nizoral shampoo. I have been using 2-3 times a week for the last 4 years since my ht. And found that adding infusium 23 leave in conditioner every day after washing my hair helps with this problem.
