Hello, I went to Doctor to do my hair transplant, i really want to do it asap, but i got kind of confused when i went to Dr. Meshkin, who performs follicular unit surgery in Newport Beach, when he told me he does this kind of procedure thats different and better, and that its 3.50 per grafts, and i need 1000 to do it, he also said if i wasnt too happy with only 1000 i can do another one for another 1000, 3.50 per graft. are all the procedures pretty much the same? i mean they take it from the donor area and put it upfront. please help im planning to do this within 2 weeks.

Hey MarkyMark----- you Hangin' Tough? LOL!!!!
Anyway, I think Dr. Meshkin is SOLID, which is why he is recommended by the HairTransplantNetwork. At 3.50 per graft you are realizing a very attractive cost, especially in California. However, I caution you to make sure that you understand FULLY the step you are about to take. 1000 grafts is a very small session by today's standards so if you have any balding past a NW2--- (ie your a NW 3, 3V, 4, etc...) you will not gain any real cosmetic difference. I would ask that you post some clear pics of your balding areas, so that you can receive some very good advice before you proceed. MY OPINION on this (sight unseen) is that you will most likely NOT be happy with 1000 grafts and you will return for at least 1000 more to reach your goals. I hope to see your pics soon so I and many others can offer a solid viewpoint of your needs. Take Care, J |

Oh-- and most of our Coalition Docs who perform Ultra-Refined Hair Transplants cost between 8-10,000 for 2000 grafts, so you shelling out 7000 for 2000 grafts in 2 sessions is something to think about as well.
I hope this helps you out!!! J |

MarkyMark,
B Spot said everything I can possibly say. He is right on the money as usual. Just to reiterate: 1000 grafts is a small session by today's standards. If you haven't figured out where you are on the norwood scale, I recommend finding out. The rule of thumb is to multiple your NW level by 1000-1500 (the higher end would be for added density). Finding out your NW level and doing the math should help you get a better picture for approximately how many grafts you will need. Good luck to you and the other new kids on the block Falc To learn about how I restored my hair, read my hair restoration story with pictures. See also my hair loss weblog. Mark,
Just google "norwood scale" and you'll find out what NW you are. And I agree with everyone here - 1,000 will not be enough for ya, but if it's a reputable doc performing the ht then it may be a good start. Most people prefer to get larger sessions, though, simply so they have to through fewer surgeries. |
