I have been told that shock loss does not occur until month 2 or so. I had an HT and I noticed considerable hair fall out from day 1. Is this something different or was I just incorrectly informed about the timing of shock loss.

Also, isn't propecia the best weapon against shock loss?

I had shock loss around the donar strip area during the second week. I'm just past two months and I haven't had any shock loss in the recipient area. The transplanted hairs fell out around the same time the scabs fell off.

The best way to combat shock loss would be to start taking propecia a month before surgery. I am not a big fan of propecia but I think it is one of the only drugs that would help shock loss.

I noticed a considerable amount of shock loss beginning around week 2. Everyone tells me that it WILL come back, but will take anywhere from 2-4 months to show it self again. Meanwhile, I am praying to the Hair Gods....

Sounds like BS to me. Although it largely depends on individuals, I had the same experience as you and bro. All the shock loss (mostly in the donor area) happened DURING the first 3 weeks.

I have noticed little, if any shock loss, thus far (16 days post op).

As long as the moon shall rise
As long as the rivers flow
As long as the sun shall shine
And the grass will grow
Let me listen, I will learn to speak
The old language
Yes, I yearn to bathe in blue skies
And fall apart from the world of machines
Regain my feet and my pounding heart
