One of the big issues for me is trying to get away without my surgery being noticed.I plan to take a few weeks off work after my surgery as the ball busting that would go along with this type of thing would affect me.I am very shy and nervous at best of times and am literally shaking at the thought of being the butt of jokes and comments.I have a decent head of hair and was planning to grow my hair long to try and conceal it a bit as it is all temple work i reqiure.

I can empathize with you as I had some of the same reservations. I will say that I was off for about 10 days and so it was still noticeable when I returned to work. Suprisingly though I did not receive many negative remarks in fact I received some postive feedback. Particularly when after about three weeks the same people that had noticed then looked at my head and were telling me they were actually very impressed at how it had healed and was no longer noticeable. It sounds like you aren't having a very big session and you will probably be fine. I've learned that we notice things much more than other people who aren't concentrating on it. Besides, you are doing it for you and a year from now you won't even be thinking about this. Best of luck.

Volvic,

Check out my weblog, as I went back to work in four days. I had some old plugs removed that were noticeable, but the new transplant/technology was virtually undetectable for me after three or four days. By three weeks, you'll be gold.

Get a surgeon who doesn't require shaving if it's going to bother you that much.

300 'mini' grapfts by Latham's Hair Clinic - 1991 (Removed 50 plugs by Cooley 3/08.)
2750 FU 3/20/08 by Dr. Cooley

1.25 mg Proscar M-W-F
Rogaine 5% Foam - once daily
AndroGel - once daily
Lipitor - 5 mg every other day
Weightlifting - 2x per week
Jogging - 3x per week

If you can style your hair for comb over or comb back that helps. Use Dermamatch and Toppiks together for best concealment. I've used both for years and it worked well.

Volvic,

I have had the same concerns. I am still less than a week away from having had my HT. I had 3335 grafts and many were in the front, so it is very noticeable. Check out my weblog as I am documenting the first couple of weeks so others can gauge the rate of healing. Everyone will heal at a different rate (look at Dewayne's weblog for comparison) but I believe a couple weeks off from work should be fine.

Good luck and please keep us posted if and when you proceed.
