Hey man, I've read some of your posts where you talked about how you had some work done in the front, and now you've lost some hair behind it. I'm in pretty much the same situation. Just curious as to where you're at now, what your hair looks like, and if you are getting more procedures.

Also, what were your expectations going into your first HT? I went in under the worst case scenario assumption (that I would progress to a NW 7) and I just want some light coverage over the front half of my head, and I'll accept a bald crown. What type of thoughts did you have going into it?

Thanks.

Wow, my own thread. I feel honored!LOL
Here's my story:
1993- 2 procedure done at Bosley (didn't know any better). I had 180 mini's and micros put in the "corners" and a few in the forelock to stay ahead of my hairloss.
1995-NHI- had 900 FU's to conceal the previous.
1996-NHI- had 780 FU's to add density. Those were the mega sessions of the day.

Right now I leave my hair a little longer to conceal the "balding zone". I use Dermatch and/or Toppik sometimes too. My goal is fill the area behind the hairline, and probably thru the "bridge". Maybe take some of micro's out and thicken the hairline a bit. I have some pitting that I'd like to conceal. I also have a situation with my scar. It has a bit of stretchback because it is too low, I've been told. So I'm not sure which way I'm gonna go just yet.I just started Propecia, and I think I'll leave the crown alone for now. I just want to look natural.
When I started all of this I was told that if lost more hair, I could stay ahead of it. I believed it. I was not told about the risk of widening donor scar every time you do more. The thing that gets me is that I HAVE to have more HT's. If I didn't, I would look pretty weird when the rest of it finally goes. I can try to post a pic or two or I can email them to you if you'd like.

You may want to think about using Toppik or some other concealer. This would help you out tremendously.

texasNW2,
As I mentioned earlier, I do use Dermatch and/or Toppik. It really fills in the gaps nicley. It is still only temporary solution though.

Are you going to get more work done to fill in behind the hairline? Approximately how long have you had the look you have currently? Thanks.

huron 56,
Yes I will have some more work done, hopefully very soon. I didn't know that I looked like this until my wife pointed it out to me and I saw an overhead picture. Doh! It's gotten progressivley worse but I can conceal it for social situations.I think it started to look like this about 3 1/2 years ago. That's when I noticed it anyway.

ts808,

Have you ever thought about having a session of FUE done behind the hairline, and then just cutting your hair short and forgetting about it? The thought has crossed my mind several times. What I'm thinking is that the density that is behind the hairline wouldn't matter too much if it is cut short. Granted, this isn't the ideal look, but at least it would look somewhat natural. Maybe you'd have to go back in a few years to connect the hair on top to the sides, but there should still be enough donor available even if you were to progress to a NW7.

huron56,
Yes. I've thought about that. I would like to be able to buzz my short, as many balding men do. I think it would look better to have my hair buzzed this way since my crown is balding also. The thing that would keep me from doing it is the donor scar in the back, and the micro's in the front. (behind the FU's) I'm still researching my options and saving my money. I hope to do something soon, but I'm trying to be patient and make the right decision.
