During a surgery, I noticed that the technicians were in rush to to the dissections, as a result I saw some waste and some damage to the follicules during dissection, even I noticed that the follicules are being damaged by the way one of the technician was holding them to place them in the scaplp. I think part of the fact that we have not enough hair growth after a surgery is becasue the techs do not take the time and accuracy to be careful no to damage the roots of the hair follicules. Do you agree and do you know a doctor in Southern california who is no doing the above?
It is a well known fact the surgical technicians in hair restoration surgery are vital to the success and outcome . The way the technicians and physician handle the grafts during dissection and placement are critical to the survival of the follicles. In my clinic I watch over the staff very closely during the dissection process. I monotor the size and shape of the follicular unit grafts and the amount of waste created. I look through the waste to make sure that no follicles have been discarded. A patient should not get the feeling that any of the staff is rushing with anything during the procedure. Performing one procedure per day is how I allievate the problem of having the staff feel pressured to rush.
